It is with profound relief and gratitude to all the volunteers, voters, the Swift Vets for Truth, campaign staff, etc., that I type up today's edition of A Day in the Life of the Re-elected President Bush.
As we now know, Bush received more votes than any previous US president, America saw a record voter turnout, and the US Congress picked up votes to increase the GOP margin in both Houses. Mandate? YES!
Stocks surged Wednesday, with the Dow Jones industrials posting a triple-digit gain moments after the opening bell, as investors expressed relief following the election and victory for President Bush.
Some international reaction: Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday said an election victory by President Bush would strengthen the United States and benefit their countries.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!!!!! We have successfully defended our beaches and borders, and our Coast Guard is commissioned to maintain its patrols for Four More Years!
Our withdrawal is postponed for four years. ;-)
I honor the USSC justices who've wanted to step down but have refused to hand in their resignations (I know Rehnquist is one of them) because they weren't going to let Tom Daschle and his cronies saddle them with incompetence in black robes, or do another Clarence Thomas deal. Some of them have truly suffered by staying on the job, waiting for an open door via the WH and an honorable Senate.
A lot of people reading this thread today typed through tears.
They are old enough now to really appreciate what they have in two parents who love each other so much, and love them unconditionally.
You can tell how much they respect and admire Mom and Dad...........and it's really neat to see!
Who is the young man with Jenna? Boyfriend? I noticed him last night, but haven't heard there was anyone special in her life.
Beautiful W, Lady Jag!
Are you celebrating up there in Mass?
Y'know that guy, Pat something-or-other, the Democratic strategist who's always on Hannity and Colmes? He said something about Jim DeMint (SC senator-elect) being a weak candidate and his opponent being a strong one, trying to prove that the senators were elected because of President Bush's "coattails." I was rather insulted, though. Being a resident of SC, who voted for Jim DeMint, I certainly don't think I voted for a weak candidate. And seeing as how he beat his Democratic opponent by 10% of the popular vote, I would imagine the rest of my fellow South Carolinians wouldn't agree either.
What a triumph! Knowing that Daschle had been voted out made it easier for me to go to bed (at 4:45am - gulp!) when the election still hadn't been called for the President.
I'll bet Daschle is kicking himself for letting Johnson steal the 2002 election and leaving Thune to fight again another day. Losing to Johnson was a bitter disappointment but it was certainly worth it to get Daschle out of our hair!
I met a whole lot of Bush Babes from 10 to 80! For every one of us here on the Dose there are thousands out there not saying a word to anyone about how deeply they feel for our President.
It was an HONOR to work among the hundreds here in our county who manned the phones, went door to door, and worked like crazy to make this happen!
**I'll bet the President will still be adorable when he's 62**
I'm sure he will be. And I'm very glad we'll get to see his next four birthdays from the White House.
I went to bed at 5:00 AM and 90 minutes later the alarm rang and I headed off to work thanking God we have this President for another 4 years. Despite how tired as I am, it's been a wonderful day.
Good night all,
God Bless America!
Four more years of the daily dose! WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!! It has been a wonderful day indeed!
One of the newsies said that, right after the win, the libs immediately reverted to calling W stupid.
By association, in their minds, we must be stupid also, because who would elect a stupid man except a stupid voter? They must wonder how we can sit up and take nourishment for all that stupid oozing out of us.
"BTW, I love Dick Cheney's tie in this picture. Very elegant."
He is always so elegantly dressed. And so cool and unruffled. He really only displayed a mild sense of satisfaction while being in complete control up there today.
Did you notice that, as usual, he took on the lightning rod role by being the one to say that the President now has a 'mandate.' I'm sure he'll take criticism for that statement, which he knows.
In my opinion he often takes on just that role, quite intentionally. He deflects criticism from the President by being the one who voices the hard or controversial statements that need to be said, but will draw wrath. It's amazing how valuable he is to the President as a councillor and advisor and a steady right-hand.
And besides that, he's just hot as all get out.
Weren't the color choices of the POTUS and VPOTUS and wives interesting today? Lime green and orange; pastel blue and pink. Very eye catching.
The new Rainbow Team? LOL Sherbet, anyone?
What a lovely thought!
And I'm so looking forward to 4 more years of the Dose!
Woohoo!!! No more Tommy Boy. I almost felt sorry for him, seeing his concession speech. (Well, I didn't actually watch his speech, I just saw the look on his face right before he started talking.) I'm trying not to be too gloating. I know how I would've felt if the election had gone the other way so I'm doing my best not to call up my liberal friends and family members and say, "I tooold you..."
Cousin.
I can't tell you how utterly THRILLED I was that PM Howard won his election! I prayed that he would win. Now, thankfully, both of our countries have wonderful Leaders!
Many of us truly appreciate PM Howard's friendship and alliance!
I just don't want the next four years to go TOO fast!
Happy Birthday, hoosiermama. Hope it's a great one.
