I've heard of Eisenhower. Somehow I doubt he'd be in favor of gay marriage, abortion on demand, an international test for deploying troops, etc. I doubt if he were alive today he'd be to the left of Frist on most anything. During his administration we modernized our production of nuclear weapons in order to mass produce them. We built heavy bombers by the droves,etc.
Thing is, the Democrats have been trying for years to redefine what a moderate truly is, and they lost, at least for the time being. We have an opportunity with that loss to develop a new broad concensus based on the views of middle America, not on the views of New England liberals.
