Okay, I know. Several kittens died so that this vanity might be created. Nevertheless, this is really important stuff folks. I just sent the above to Senator Frist's office and I plan on sending modified versions to other GOP Senate Leaders. For a lot of us, this election was as much about the Judiciary as it was about the Presidency. The exit polls, unreliable as they were, did show us that moral issues were of great importance to the electorate this year. If we merely succeeded in getting President Bush re-elected, but the SCOTUS and the District Courts get stacked with more pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, anti-religion judges then I fear that we will see the beginning of a dark time for the Conservative movement and the nation. Others have already said it, but CONTACT YOUR SENATORS AND THE GOP SENATE LEADERS!!! We have to do something about Specter!

You can find links to other members of the Senate leadership at http://republican.senate.gov/

Go to it!

Specter is NOT what victory looks like. We might as well have asked Schumer to chair the committee. Souter will be the only acceptable GOP nominee for a weasal like Arlen. Maybe this will be the revenge for Bush supporting him over Toomey.

Specter supported Justices Rehnquist, Scalia and - very gallantly- Thomas.

So I'm not getting too excited over this report.

I don't agree with this at all. Why feed the MSM when all they are trying to do is respond like you are responding.

Why not wait until you read the transcript of what Spector said? I understand his office is prepairing to release it soon.

It appears the Senator is at odds with published reports of just what it was he said with regards to the Supreme court nominees.

I would suggest sending copies of the elctoral map to the Senate leadership captioned "We Are The Mainstream - America Says So."

Here's my letter to Frist

Senator Frist,

I am from Arlen Specter's home state of Pennsylvania. However even though I am a loyal Republican, I could not bring myself to vote for him in the 2004 Senate election. Instead, I voted for Jim Clymer because he better represents my conservative, pro-life values.

As you know, Specter barely won the primary against Pat Toomey in this election and for a four time incumbent, this is really telling. It is clear that the people in Pennsylvania see that Specter is out of touch with their values and the platform of the Republican party.

I understand that Specter is in line as the next chairman of the Judiciary committee and I urge you NOT to support him in that position. After this election we have a gain of 5 seats in the Senate and the most important job we will have as Republicans will be the nomination of good US Supreme Court Justices. Specter's recent comments (i.e, threats) to block anything but middle-of-the-road Supreme Court nominees are very troubling particularly because he is being considered for this important position on the Judiciary committee.

It would be interesting to give Senator Specter a list of the key issues on the Republican platform and ask him to cross out what he disagrees with. I don't think we would be left with much. This is NOT the kind of person that we want heading up the Senate's Judiciary committee so I urge you to consider an alternate candidate such as another Pennsylvanian, Rick Santorum.

I realize that the Senate has its unwritten rules about putting Senators who have seniority into prime positions. However, considering the position we are in and recent comments from Specter, it is immensely important to get the right people in the key positions. Please take this matter seriously as it may be the most important decision you have made to date in your position as the Senate Majority Leader. I am counting on you as are countless innocent unborn victims of abortion.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Feel free to contact me by phone or email at any time if you wish to discuss this matter further.

Even if the Philadelphia Enquirer story is blown out of proportion, which I am not convinced of, if you read Specter's own book he outlines his beliefs. Defending Roe v. Wade is his top priority. He has voted for some conservative judges before, but only because he was certain it would not negatively impact the balance and threaten his beloved Roe decision.

The spector of Specter is more than I can stomach.

I already e-mailed the President, and will follow up with letters to Frist, Cheney and Hatch.

Specter MUST go.

OK, let me say this clearly -- I don't support abortion - period end of subject.

You want to know how to sway the country in our favor, inquire within.

Don't fall into the trap. The report about what Spector said is not accurate. The Press is baiting conservatives to show the party is divided.

Specter supported Justices Rehnquist, Scalia and - very gallantly- Thomas. So I'm not getting too excited over this report.

Because he knew there are 6 other justices who would not overturn Roe v. Wade. Read Specters book, he is very clear he would not support any of these if the court was endangered of overturning Roe v. Wade. Specter is a snake and should not be in charge of the Judiciary Committee. Specter will do whatever possible to keep the court with a liberal balance. His words can not be any clearer on this subject.

I hope you're right. If you are then I'm sure that the Senate Leadership will ignore my letters and the many others that they will no doubt receive. But I seriously doubt if the report has been blown too far out of proportion. Specter has shown his liberal pedigree on more than one occassion. I don't think that it would be wise to keep him in such a powerful position.
