I'd have to say, based upon strafing for a living in my A-10, it is highly unlikely the pilot could have "burped" the trigger for only a 25 round burst. These ain't WWII fighters we are talking about where the guy walks bullets and you can count the rounds. With a firing rate of, what, 6,000 per minute, that would mean he pulled the trigger for only micro-micro--micro-fraction of a second (I don't do math in public). Leads me to believe short circuit as cause, but of of course. . .those might have been the last remaining rounds and he did squeeze a shot. . .who knows until the mishap report comes out.

Man, am I jealous. They have got to keep the hogs around. There was a thread about hogs a while back and someone said that hogs weren't the nicest looking plane. Someone replied "The A-10, Go ugly early."
