4 soliers in LA Times story

Posted on 11/05/2004 5:04:10 AM PST by bobd400

Anyone see this report, I think from the LA times about 4 soldiers coming forward regarding the looting of the explosives? I have a just a couple of problems with the story...

first, I like the was these liberal papers say "powerful enough to detonate a nuclear bomb". While not saying it, they are trying to make people beleive that the US soldiers allowed a WMD to fall into the hands of terrorists (WMD, which, by the way, supposedly never existed there). second, I have no doubt that munitions (which is all these really are) were stolen from all over the country. And although 300 tons sounds like a lot, I understand that in the scheme of all the HE that was in the country, this is a small portion of it. third, let's say, irrespective of what I just said, these four "soldiers" are right. What's the point? You gonna blame Bush for something that happend at this micro of a level? fourth, these "soldiers" sound fishy. Remember, there are a small portion of the military who don't like Bush, and don't wanna be in Iraq. These are mostly the dudes who signed up for the cool bonus, and free college money, and then suddenly realized, "oh, you mean I actually have to BE a soldier if I'm called on?". And only these 4 came forward from the whole unit? fifth, let's think about this. They are saying "pick up" trucks looted the place. Now, I have a fairly good condition 98 S-10, and I put 600 pounds in the back once, and I'd say that was about the limit I would take for any distance. Now, at 300tons(x2000pound = 600,000 pounds) , it would take 1,000 pick up trucks to do this. THAT seems pretty rediculous. finally, what were these guys carrying, water pistols. If you're on guard duty, and someone approaches, you force the to stop and identify. If they don't you massacre them. That's the first job of a soldier, guard duty. Based on the masses of people they claim were looting there, how many kills did they have? Should have been at least in the 100's. So even if every last bit of the article is true, they need to be courts martialed for not obeying orders....

Sorry for the rant

The LA Times and others in the Tribune group purposefully misstated their circulation records for purposes of deceiving (and defrauding) their advertisers and the USPS.

Why should anything this paper prints be believed?

There is a earlier post that says the chems are used for urinary infections and without some type of acid mixed in that is all it is good for.
