Sorry - Senators don't win elections. Need to nominate a governor. How about Bill Owens of Colorado??
PS - Allen is a good guy.
But he was a governor.
I like Owens too. Why did Repubs lose control of the CO legislature though? That was a surprise. I wonder if Owens's popularity is down.
Newsflash: Bill Owens divorced his wife and got his subordinate pregnant. He will retire in disgrace, not run for higher office.
We used to call him Governor Allen ...
Very true. Senators can't win because the other side hangs them with their record. Governors are the rule of thumb. Also come with experience Sentators are lacking and the Presidency is just a step up the ladder.
Get your facts straight. George Allen was Governor of Virginia before he became US Senator from Virginia. That makes him an ex-governor just as Ronald Reagan was an ex-governor when he ran for President in both 1976 and 1980.
He was governor before he was Senator.
Normally I would agree with you that Senators are not good Presidential candidates. But since Hillary will be the Dem nominee and she's a Senator you'd have Senator vs. Senator. And of course Allen was a Gov.
well if Hillary is the nominee and we send Allen then there WILL be a Senator elected one way or the other
Sorry, but a senator can win in 2008 when both major party candidates are probably going to be sitting senators. Also, Allen was a governor of a mid-sized state, Virginia.
