I lived in Texas for three years. Yep, they talk like that. But you know, once you're there for awhile, you start to understand it. THEN, you start to talk that way yourself. It's really a beautiful language.
Frog? Side pockets? Handgun? Here in Tennessee, they do
and they do.
I was born in, raised in, and lived in Texas most of my life and have a lot East Texas country relatives. And no, we don't talk like that. There are a whole lot of colloquial folk sayings, we use them all the time, but nothing like Rather's idiot babbling. Anyone that talked like that at a family reunion would have the rest of us privately commenting that he should be admitted to Terrell or Wichita Falls. (Those are two well-known big 'insane asylums' in East and North Texas.)
I passed through France about 40 someodd years ago and I heard one Froggie say, "Les Allemands et le Vietnamien sont passés par nous comme la merde par une oie!"
Guess Dan must have been there before me...
