I remember reading a thread there last month entitled

"Did you support the invasion of Afghanistan?"

About 2/3rds of them felt it was a barbaric and colonialist action on the part of the United States.

It is good to see them with their shackles off with the phony "support the troops" nonsense as other posters have noted.

Whenever someone tells me that this war in Afghanistan to remove the Taliban or the war in Iraq to remove Saddam Hussein is wrong I always ask them what they think of the war in Kosovo to remove Slobodon Melosevic. I get two answers.
1)That war was OK because it was justified.
2)That war was also wrong.

The hypocrisy of the first answer is obvious to all except the one giving this explanation.
The second answer is also hypocritical but only indirectly. (not an improvement) I always ask the follow-up question: Where were you and your Pacifism As A Policy friends during the war in Kosovo? I didn't see anyone protesting Bill Clinton's refusal to go along with the UN policies. I didn't see anyone claim that our allies were irrelevant or bought off. I also didn't hear anyone say that the war was wrong because of the thousands of innocent civilians killed or the failure to find the tens of thousands of bodies in mass graves or anyone claiming that Clinton had an ulterior motive in conducting the war.

Personally, I accept at face value that it is desirable for the United States to take an active part in removing brutal dictators from power, regardless of what party our commander in chief belongs to. I just wish the Michael Moore followers would remember that the worldwide availability of freedom should not be a partisan issue.
