Inquiries from Americans wanting to move to New Zealand have "exploded" since George W Bush was re-elected president.
The Immigration Service's website had 10,300 hits from the United States the day after the election. Usually it gets 2500 hits a day.
And the phones of its US marketing directors in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Portland, Oregon, have been ringing nonstop since the election.
Marketing director Don Badman said there had been up to 300 telephone calls and emails a day.
"We've been doing this for 11 months and it's been building up to about six to eight calls a day, but from Thursday it's exploded. It really started picking up from 11pm the night of the election."
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that many Americans were inquiring about moving to New Zealand, Australia and Canada as a result of the election.
A Canadian website is reaching out to help weary liberal Americans, asking Canadians to marry someone from south of the border.
"Open your heart and your home. Marry an American. Legions of Canadians have already pledged to sacrifice their singlehood to save our southern neighbours from four more years of cowboy conservatism," jokes the site, set up by a Toronto humour magazine.
To convince Americans to come on up, the site mentions that Canada is a liberal utopia with universal health care and, in some provinces, gay marriage.
"We envision a movement where everyone wins: Freedom of expression and a politically convenient marriage with love and igloos for all."
Heh heh...the Kiwi FReepers tell the libs to go to Canada, the Canuck FReepers tell the libs to go to NZ. Do we have any French FReeprs here? Don't think so.

Liberals - No need to emigrate to Canada. A strange phenomenom has taken place on the very day of the elections. A land mass 1/2 the size of Australia began rising from the sea in the Pacific Ocean west of the United States. It appeared just after President Bush was declared the winner, local time. It was suggested by geologists and parapychologists that it may be the lost continent of "Mu", which was speculated as having sunk many millenia ago, populated by a people of vastly increased intelligence, and had harnassed the energy of the Sun as their power source for everything. Many of the infrastructures are still intact because of their advanced technology, so that very little building would be necessary. In fact, habitation would be possible in a matter of months. Liberals should take advantage of such good fortune and make plans to go there quickly before prime real estate is all taken. Canadians don't want lunatic liberals either, and that marriage business doesn't work anymore. Further, any American who claims refugee status must have a reason, and their isn't any. Also, it's a 2- 5 year wait for immigration. After 6 months of visiting, you'd have to go back to the USA. Canada is expensive to live, and they would still have to have American health insurance. they are tons of obsticles in the way for a liberal fleeing the USA.
Send them to Mexico, LoL! That would be kinda funy, mexicans running this way, liberals running the other way.

This would be a great time for our conservative friends in New Zealand and Canada, to sell their homes to American liberals - they're loaded with cash! - ask big bucks! - and come here to live. You can help us grow the conservative electorate, thus ensuring a defeat of Hillary Clinton when she runs in '08.

There is plenty of open space where you can build a new home with all that money - or - you can probably pick up one of those liberal homes for far less than the asking price ;-D. Our cities and towns are filled with churches and synagogues that will welcome you with open arms. Free enterprise is alive and thriving in the US.
