You can't blame the poor morons at the New York Times for trying to look on the bright side of things, but when they start talking about the wish being father to the thought and things being in the eye of the beholder and people deluding themselves, they reach a new dimension in mindless optimism--not to mention self-deception.

Try to show a little compassion, everybody. Mindless morons are people too. I'm sure they're doing the best they can.
