I'm seeing a bit of a pattern...

Why is it that water seems to attract dems? Look along the Mississippi River, and coastal areas?

--Can't attempt to explain the middle counties that are blue...workin' on it, though.

My guess is that it has to do with whether or not there is a liberal bastion in the county such as a university, 5 Star resort where liberals hang out, or some other such.

I can't speak for all the Mississippi river counties being blue, but, in the case of Arkansas and Mississippi, those counties that border the river, make up the delta area of both states: very poverty-stricken, and welfare-dependent populations in those counties.

I grew up in Wisconsin, and was just talking this over with my brother and his wife. My brother thought that the counties along the Mississippi were particularly industrial, and were probably the home to a lot of union members.

The only people I personally know from that area are lifelong farming families.

I can't understand that either. The big blue area in northeast MN is an Indian reservation. Mostly unpopulated. Lots of forest and swamps. Strange how he won the state based on that. I guess Duluth and the Twin Cities.
