Lament from a clueless Kerry Voter
Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel ^ | 11/07/2004 | Reader

Sunday Symposium: Moral values?

In my world - as a stay-at-home mom living in the Riverwest area of Milwaukee - I see a lot of progressives/liberals with very strong family values. I interact with families in this community through neighborhood organizations, schools, church and play- roups. These are people who are very careful about what their children eat, read, watch and do.

These progressive families - mine included - make many financial sacrifices so they can be with their children as much as possible. Many of the families choose to have one parent stay at home, or both parents work part-time, or they choose jobs with flexible schedules. The point is: We are progressives, we voted for John Kerry and we have very strong family values.

Conversely, there are plenty of conservative families - people who voted for President Bush - who focus on getting ahead financially over spending time with their children; let their children watch any sort of TV programs and movies and play video games with all kinds of immoral themes; and let their children dress and eat however the child chooses regardless of modesty and health.

hmm... letter with a very similar premise appeared in the Tampa Tribune today.

I question the timing of this letter.

Dear Liberal Kerry Voter:

"Values" include NOT allowing a TRAITOR to be president. What is so hard to understand about that?

" These are people who are very careful about what their children eat, read, watch and do."

I'll bet they are. My early childhood Dick Tracy machine gun and the original versions of Grimm's Fairy Tales would not have passed muster.

So what? Too much is being made of the moral values thing. I believe that Bush won because of war on terror and because of what kind of man he is. I think if the Dems go with the moral values concept they will be missing the target. Fine by me.

Most of these so-called progressives think that global warming is more important than defeating Islamofascism. They are remarkably un-progressive whn it comes to concern about the brutalization of a half-billion women in Islamic countries.

Sorry, those are not my values.

And, Mrs. Progressive, you would have had to make even more financial sacrifices if Lurch had been elected-or maybe you'd like to give back your tax cuts?

If you voted for higher taxes and more terrorism, you don't really have what is called "values".

Sorry.

"Many of the families choose to have one parent stay at home..."

I believe conservative Christians have been doing this for 2000 years now.

Well, you can google the author's name. Don't get much, but from what you can find she fits the profile of a typical Kerry voter.

Careful what they eat, but not too careful what they listen to...betcha.
Liberal lies contaminate the mind.
The "conservative families" prefer truth to lies/.

It'd be interesting to see how this self proclaimed "progressive, stay-at-home mom" defines conservative.

This thing was written by your typical, whiny liberal who wouldn't recognize traditional, biblical values if they kicked her in the teeth.

I knew about this very progressive person, named Stalin or something, killed over 100 million people. So what's your point, pinhead?
