Grover Norquist, a strategist close to the administration, contended that the war reduced Mr. Bush's majority by 6 percentage points to 51 percent of the vote.

Mr. Bush now has two years to "solve Iraq" to protect Republican candidates at the midterm elections, he said.

His suggestions: withdrawing United States troops to safe citadels within Iraq or by "handing Falluja over to the Iraqis and saying, 'It's your headache.' "

This is the rational solution to a non-problem.
Why should we care if Iraqis kill each other in tribal squabbles? They've been doing it for centuries.

I'm sure glad people like you weren't around in huge numbers during World War II.

American Copperheads...

Grover Norquist:   "withdraw United States troops to safe citadels within Iraq or by handing Falluja over to the Iraqis and saying, 'It's your headache'.

Paul Weyrich:   "America is stuck in a guerrilla war with no end in sight...our real enemies, nonstate organizations such as Al Qaeda, are benefiting from the Arab and Islamic backlash against our occupation of an Islamic country."

The four rules of terrorism that the Copperhead pukes need to learn:

  1. There is no such thing as international terrorism that is NOT state sponsored. No exceptions.

  2. There is virtually NO Islamic state that does not sponsor terrorism.

  3. If you go to war with one Islamic terrorist organization or terror sponsoring state, you've gone to war with all of them. No exceptions.

  4. Terrorists have chosen to make their war a black flag battle to the death, they can only be defeated on the battlefield.
These Copperheads need to be loudly exposed as anti-American defeatists, and their counsel rejected as the path to the destruction of America.

OMG. I am rather surprised by this article. The war in Iraq is about terrorism regardless of the leftist spin which obviously has been adopted by the so called pure conservatives. I thought it was only the socialists on the left who didn't get it. Guess I was wrong.

Oh no! The ranks of the Paleo So Called Conservatives (PSCCs) are multiplying! At this rate, they'll match the influence of the Libertarian Party by 2124!

It would be not their headache but their suicide. You read the stories about how we are teaching these ragtag armies how not to get run over by tanks?

This cannot, this must not be another Vietnam, where punches were constantly pulled because of spaghetti spined politicians.

These 'conservatives' sound an awful lot like liberals who favor weak national defense and fail to understand what the War on Terror is about.

The War on Terror is not a war of choice and, if we are to win, then the war must be fought in Iran, too. Or...we can declare victory, get out and let our children and grandchildren deal with it, possibly here.
