Personhood is always redefined to exclude the intended victim class. In 1935, the Nuremberg Laws codified the exclusion of Jews from German society. The next year, the Reichsgericht (Germany's highest court) essentially legalized the Holocaust. Cartoons routinely depicted Jews as pigs, dogs, rats, and other vermin. In 1857, the U.S. Supreme Court declared Blacks "...a subordinate and inferior class of beings..." in [Dred] Scott v. Sandford. Black slaves were often assigned diminutive names, such as "Mingo," that were normally reserved for pets. In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court found that "the word 'person,' as used in the [Constitution], does not include the unborn." Today, unwanted children are spoken of in dehumanizing terms: "embryo," "fetus," "products of conception," etc.

Genocide often framed in the language of "choice." The Nazis asserted that the racial make-up of the German nation was an internal matter for the German people to decide. They also emphasized Hitler's choice, his "Will to Power," as a Nazi propaganda film put it. In the Senatorial debates of 1858, Stephen Douglas said that he was personally opposed to slavery but that each state should have the right to choose whether to be a slave state or a free state. Pro-abortion advocates argue that if pro-lifers don't like abortions, they shouldn't have them. Abortion is not mandated; it is a matter of personal "choice."
Victim class tends to be people who have what we want or get in our way. Eastern Europeans owned land that the Nazis wanted for lebensraum ("living space") for the German people. Jews owned material wealth that Nazis wanted for themselves. Blacks owned the work product that slave owners desired for themselves. The loss of this uncompensated work product would deprive slave owners of material wealth they desired to maintain. Killing babies is often justified based on the desire to acquire material wealth and /or maintain lifestyle. Babies get in the way of career development, women's rights, sexual freedom, etc.

Victim class is often seen as a "disease" on society or as diseased themselves. "Parasites" and "bacilli" were words used by Nazis to describe Jews and others targeted for extermination. Benjamin Rush, a leading American scientist who personally opposed slavery, speculated that all blacks were really leprous, diseased, whites in need of a cure. In his medical textbook Abortion Practice, Warren Hern analogizes the unwanted, unborn child to a disease, the treatment of choice for which is abortion.
Resources are inadequate to care for intended victim class if they are allowed to live. The Nazis justified killing "useless eaters" based on the fact that they were using up resources needed by the German people. Pro-slavery advocates justified the continuation of slavery because they said the slaves, if emancipated, could not take care of themselves and would be a drain on society's resources. Pro-abortion advocates attempt to justify abortion by stating that there are inadequate resources to care for all unwanted babies if they are not killed by abortion.

"Pro-abortion advocates attempt to justify abortion by stating that there are inadequate resources to care for all unwanted babies if they are not killed by abortion."

An argument being made here today on FR!

Excellent post.

Now, add in the fact that our Social Security and Medicare systems are failing because - well, in addition to the fact that they are corrupted by politicians - due to the fact that some 30 to 40 million potential workers/tax payers were killed by their parents.

Besides, it's just wrong

Killing the jews was wrong too, so was slavery. But the excuses are here for all to see.

Point #1: Aren't those charging "inadequate resources" themselves consumers of these same resources?

Point #2: The overpopulation myth. We have variations in population density, not "overpopulation". More people choose to live in big cities - self-evident, that's why the cities are "big". This is a choice people make, and they must live with the usual urban consequences.

Point #3: Migration patterns and immigration policy play at least as big a role in determining regional population density in America as birth rates.

Point #4: Outlawing abortion would cause people to think about their actions. It would precipitate critical cultural changes, such as a re-evaluation of the casual treatment of extramarital relations, to the factors that contribute to the demand for abortions. Overall, this means a general societal cleanup - a good thing, and probably the single biggest reason for the hostility of our adversaries.

Title: GOP Sen. Specter Vows to Block Bush's Nominees

Recall that alleged Republican Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, upon winning the primary, immediately backstabbed President Bush, who had campaigned for him instead of actual Republican Pat Toomey. Turns out Specter was just getting started.

We now see that the usually pro-Democrat Pittsburgh Post-Gazette endorsed the sharp-horned RINO in Tuesday's general election for this reason: "Before the Post-Gazette editorial board, he promised that no extremists would be approved for the bench."

What the pro-abortion Specter and pro-abortion Post-Gazette mean by "extremist" is anyone who isn't pro-abortion or who otherwise follows the U.S. Constitution instead of making up legislation from the bench.

"Even if he votes nine out of 10 times for the administration, we trust his word that the 10 percent of difference will be a brake on the worst excesses of a second Bush term, if it comes to that," the pee-yoo P-G snarled.

And there are these facts:

Arlen Specter:

Voted NO on ending special funding for minority & women-owned business. (Oct 1997)

Voted NO on banning affirmative action hiring with federal funds. (Jul 1995)

Success is near because of all the hard work we have done, but it is not yet over. The Philadelphia Inquirer, Washington Times, and United Press International all covered how the offices have been flooded with calls, but we need to keep it up as the fight does not end here! Make the calls all over again on Monday.

Also note the changes to the site, all the recent press mentions will be on the Why? page, but this blog should keep you fairly up to date on the goings ons.

Mark Harris .:. 11/6/2004 Keep Up The Work

Things are going fantastic over here, as we have gotten press through the Laura Ingram Show, several state pro-life alerts, and countless conservative e-mail lists, but the fight has just begun.

The rumor on the Hill is that things are about ready to break. We just need to keep up pressure on them to make sure it happens. So keep your eyes and ears open. NotSpecter.com also has some great resources that have gone up so make sure to check it out.

Also GrassrootsPA.com has a letter written by Specter to raise money that slams the conservative wing of the party, which puts to rest any argument over how he would run the Judiciary Committee.

Lest you think this is fiction - these signs started to appear in the Philadelphia area just before the election, paid for by Arlen’s former campaign manager. This particular picture originially appeared in the Philly Daily News.

Chilling.

Of all the justifications for abortion, the "who will take care of these unwanted people" argument is the one that I find the most disturbing. This is the argument we hear most frequently when the topic of partial-birth abortion comes up. We all know how the argument goes: tell a "pro-choice" person that the partial-birth abortin procedure has nothing to do with "a woman's right to control her own body" because the child could be BORN ALIVE just as easily as "aborted," and the invariable response you will get is "are YOU gonna take care of the child?!" This is an absolutely chilling argument. If we are going to justify killng based on the idea that these people are "unwabted," then we could clear out the jails, homeless shelters, old age homes, etc. in short order. I don't ever want to live in such a society. I don't say "I should have a right to kill my Grandpa because he's unwanted, and unless you agree to take care of him personally you have no right to stop me."

I suppose the difference some see with abortion is that the unborn don't have names yet. then again, I suppose that others would point out that the people in Hitler's concentration camps were given numbers for a reason.

"Pro-abortion advocates attempt to justify abortion by stating that there are inadequate resources to care for all unwanted babies if they are not killed by abortion."

Assuming that there are inadequate resources to care for all unwanted babies, some of these babies might, in a worst-case scenario, die prematurely. Therefore, we should murder them, in case this worst-case scenario arises?

Sometimes it is difficult for some to comprehend the significance of very large numbers, such as 1.5 million.

At the rate of 1.5 million abortions/year:
It would take a TWA800 tragedy every 90 minutes around the clock, every day of the year, to reach 1.5 million.

It would take a 9/11 tragedy every day to reach 1.5 million.

Would the general public merely accept either of these as someones right to do it?

The Silent Holocaust in Israel

Abortionists kill more children than terrorists

“He who destroys his own children…who wrecks the handiwork of G-D…brings hunger, plague, and the sword upon the world.” —Zohar, Shemos (Exodus)

“Abortion is murder, plain and simple.”
—Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch, Da Ma Shetoshiv

I recently took a walk in Borough Park, Brooklyn, and noticed posters prominently displayed all over the streets: "STOP The Silent Holocaust — 2,000,000 children destroyed by abortion in Israel." The signs were posted by EFRAT-C.R.I.B, an Israeli-based group that works to prevent Jewish families in Israel from aborting their children. The poster listed major Rabbis as sponsors.

I was shocked by the enormity of this number—two million Jews over the last 55 years, murdered by their own parents—could such a thing really be true, could so many Jewish mothers have murdered so many of their own children? A little research confirmed the horrible statistic.

At the 1994 United Nations International Conference on Population and Development, Dr. Baruch Levy, the official representative of the State of Israel, stated: "…according to a law of the Knesset, passed in 1977, abortions are legal when performed in authorized medical institutions and approved by special abortion committees. The overwhelming majority of requests for legal abortions are, in fact, approved for health and CERTAIN SOCIAL REASONS [emphasis mine]."

How does this work out in practice? Well, to take a fairly typical example, in 1999, 20,581 women submitted applications to the abortion committees. Of this number 18,785 (96%) were approved. The committees approved almost every application that was submitted. The only reason that all 100% of the applications were not approved is that the religious parties in Israel managed to forbid abortions based on economic reasons alone.

Commenting on a videotape that was sent to 350,000 homes in Israel by EFRAT-C.R.I.B. in 2001, Health Minister Nissim Dahan (Shas) stated: "I received the impression that…the abortion committees approve terminations of pregnancy without sufficient thought."

In his worldwide survey of abortion rates, William Robert Johnson gives the incredible statistic that total REPORTED abortions in Israel, from 1979 thru 2002 (23 years) were 411,000. This figure means that about 13% of Israeli children are murdered in the womb each year. Additionally, he cautions that these are only the official figures—the unreported figures may be double the reported amount (or 822,000). In the 55 years since the founding of the State of Israel, we could project a figure of about two million abortions.

Should we be surprised that the sword has been unleashed against our people in the Holy Land?

Our continued silence on this issue makes us vulnerable, chas vesholom, to the punishments of hunger, plague, and the sword prophesized in the Zohar Hakodosh.

Now that Rosh Hashana (the New Year) is here, it is time for us to do Teshuva (repent) on this horrible crime in G-D’s Holy Land. If we truly want to end the sacrifice of Jewish blood of our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land of Israel, we must cry out to the heavens, loudly and clearly, against this shedding of innocent blood.

Only then will we be entitled to say "Yodeinu lo shofchu es hadam hazeh" (Our hands have not shed this innocent blood).

At a March 1925 international birth control gathering in New York City, a speaker warned of the menace posed by the "black" and "yellow" peril. The man was not a Nazi or Klansman; he was Dr. S. Adolphus Knopf, a member of Margaret Sanger's American Birth Control League (ABCL), which along with other groups eventually became known as Planned Parenthood.

Thanks for the ping.
A real Church effort must begin to focus on 'mothers' not to have an abortion. It is 'mothers' who have the abortion not politicians. The Prohibition Amendment did not stop drinking.
