I'm not sure about the negative financial impact -- the Texas economy would crumble if all illegals suddenly disappeared overnight.

it would crumble for a day....until employers found out that they would have to pay their workers on the books and the "going rate"...yes, they would have to raise prices...but things would work out well for AMERICANS in the long run.

Illegals are a DRAG on the taxpayers of the US.

You don't have to ban immigrant labor. You simply have to document, control, and regularize it.

We had a program (Bracero program) for doing this up until the labor unions were able to persuade the Congress to end it in the 60s.

How many of those illegals have private health insurance --- who pays for the costs of their maternity stays and free schools for their kids? Not many illegals come over with an ability to pay their own way here nor are they paid enough that they can pay their own hospital costs and education costs.

You are correct. Down here on the border the first to crumble would be H.E.B. the giant food chain in Texas. They probably would take a huge loss without the food stamps, WIC, ect. cards from the illegals. You taxpayers pump in over a billion a year down here. More than 75% of ALL the health care is paid for by the government. One of our hospitals advertise that there are 8,000 babies a year born at that hospital. The OB floor is only 32 beds. Guess who pays for all of this.
