Greyfoxx39,

I'm not suggesting that we don't need to keep a close eye on the counting. I moved to CA from Las Cruces in 1992 and am very much aware of the "old style" politics in NM. It always seems to be most grievous in Ship Rock & Farmington...driven by smoky rooms in ABQ. I'd say the ballots in the corners probably need the closest scrutiny.

I am suggesting, however, that state-by-state, pot-shot journalism doesn't help the cause. A guy like Fund isn't doing this cause he wants fair elections -- he wants his name in the paper or better yet, his mug on TV.

We (Republicans) need to keep an even keel and nail this issue on a nationwide basis. Playing Chicken Little will only dull the publics receptiveness to a downstream revelation of widespread DEM fraud.

dung.

Those who voted more than once should go to jail for 60 days.

"I don't care if these are super-pro-Bush voters or Kerry voters or just nutso Nader voters. We allow ONE vote for ONE citizen. People who are cheating need to pay big fines and/or go to jail (whatever the law allows for). Then, these folks need to be made an example of in the media. I want to see whiny interviews of their relatives on the news about how mean the punishment is. I want to see articles in the Wash Times about the punishment. I want to hear left and right talk radio make a mockery of these people's names. I want to see websites set up to publicise the names of those convicted of this crime. "

Absolutely Right!

Any attempt to subvert the democratic voting process must be dealt with -- and dealt with severely.

Brave men and women are right now fighting and, sadly, in some cases dying in far off lands so that, among other things, citizens of the USA can vote.

It dishonors those brave men and women (and brave men and women who fought in earlier wars) to have the voting process itself tampered with in this manner.

Report your candidate's results in a base between 2 and 9.

Don't understand?

My candidate won by 63 votes. The 8 term encumbant democrat that we beat is considering a recount. I worry because our local county auditor, (in charge of elections) is a cheater I know but can't prove it. She has the keys and I am sure she would cheat if she could.

There are 4 counties all together, but it is this one that I worry about.

To get the proper context on this story consider the source: O.J. political diarist John Fund.

I think you're misinterpreting the initials "O.J.". IIRC, Fund writes for the Opinion Journal. As far as I know, he's never written anything about O.J. Simpson.

Bingo.

Not only that, they need to be locked up in a cell with "Bruno" for a couple of years and then let out and given a big press conference to wail about what happened to them.

THAT will stop the vote fraud.

But, instead, we'll probably just call it all a "Mistake", and institute a national ID system and force Grandma to produce her National-Socialist ID and get fingerprinted before we let her drag herself into the polling place...

Is this how Richardson found 20,000 votes .. or is that a different issue?

remember how Tuesday night their dear Gov was on with Fox and others telling them NOT to call for Bush because they WERE going to carry the state for Kerry.

I really wish they'd audit Wisconsin and hope Nader pulls of an audit of NH

I'd start with my local FBI if the guy has two ID's.

San Juan county is a Republican stronghold, went 66% for Bush. That's a problem for you? If you lived in Cruces, you should know about Dona Ana. I really have to question your opinions. Fund is not known as a media hog, to my knowledge.

"Can anyone think of a way to commit voter fraud on a recount?"

You saw the Dems doing it live on TV in Florida 2000 - send party operatives in to count the ballots by hand, and "divine" the intent of voters by analyzing chads etc.

Did a search...came up with the following:

In an effort to ensure that the November 2, 2004 elections are administered fairly in every city and town in Connecticut, Kevin J. O'Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut; Jeffrey B. Garfield, Executive Director and General Counsel for the Connecticut State Elections Enforcement Commission; Susan Bysiewicz, Connecticut Secretary of the State; and Christopher L. Morano, Connecticut Chief State's Attorney, today announced that a statewide toll-free telephone number will be available for use by anyone who witnesses or experiences voting irregularities on Election Day.

The number - 1-866-733-2463 (1-866-SEEC-INFO) - will be staffed by the Connecticut State Elections Enforcement Commission (SEEC) during polling hours on Election Day. Anyone with knowledge of election fraud or voting rights abuses are encouraged to call this number to report suspected violations. Source

Although, that release states that the number will be effective election day so it may not still be active. Also, it states that the Secretary of State is responsible for overseeing the election, so here is the link to that office:

Connecticut SoS

The number for that office is (860) 509-6200. The e-mail address for the Elections Division is lead@po.state.ct.us

Hope that helps!

Statistics. The is REAL bad. These were the people who were CAUGHT. Any six sigma person will tell you that finding fraud at this rate means you have a MUCH bigger problem, because you cant sample all places at all times.

The Cuyahoga County one is pretty eye-opening. I took the Board of Elections data and did my own Excel sheet. Over 15% of the votes, were in excess of the registered voters at the precincts!

I'm normally not a proponent of new federal laws, but this situation (obviously a problem in far more than NM) cries out for a hard-nosed cleanup. The notion of one party being able to count votes totally outside the presence of the opposition is abject absurdity. And then the Dems have the nerve to go to court to try to protect their secrecy. Unreal. The Bush administration should've been all OVER this beginning January 21, 2001. Given what had just gone down in Florida, public support for a fair and transparent mechanism would've been enormous. Hardcore Dems would've fought it tooth and nail, of course, but they would not have been able to stop it.
