If you go to this story and click on the video you can actually see them showing clips of all the various anti-Specter sites, like StopSpecterNow.com, NotSpecter.com, and StopSpecter.org.
Talk about a team effort!
Hundreds of Web sites produced by people who remember when Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter opposed the nomination of Robert Bork are part of a new Internet campaign aimed to prevent the Republican from becoming chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
... Senate GOP leadership could probably quell this rebellion by openly supporting Specter, but two independent Republican sources told Fox News that will probably not happen.
Good! I do not want it to be quelled. I wish it was a different situation, but this is what specter has made it, unfortunately.
It sounds like they want Specter to feel the heat -- let us do the dirty work for them.
Keep the calls coming!
We are picking up momentum!
Senator Orrin Hatch 202-224-5251
Senator Charles Grassley 202-224-3744
Senator Jon Kyl 202-224-4521
Senator Mike DeWine 202-224-2315
Senator Jeff Sessions 202-224-4124
Senator Lindsey Graham 202-224-5972
Senator Larry Craig 202-224-2752
Senator Saxby Chambliss 202-224-3521
Senator John Cornyn 202-224-2934
I bet Congress is shocked that they are actually being held accountable for something. Thank God for the internet.
Sounds good to me!
No one gives a better argument as to why Specter should not the Judiciary Committee Chairman than does Specter himself.
What a joke! GOP support of Specter would NOT quell the outrage.
Another example of being out of touch with real people.
bump
If they do intend to keep him on as chair, they apparently want him to have a preview of what it will be like if he tries anything funny. The poker is already very hot and he hasn't even done anything yet.
The longer this goes on, the more resentment builds against the President and his team. They are risking the good will and the great grass-roots get-out-the vote efforts that they had from Evangelical preachers, family groups, Catholic right-to-life organizations, and the like.
They need the good will and trust of these people in 2006 if they don't want to lose some of that majority in the house and senate. People went out and voted because they trusted Bush. And regretably Specter is hanging around Bush's neck, because he and Karl Rove put him where he is by intervening in the primary.
Let's get this out of the way now, before more damage is done.
I'm still trying to figure this all out
At first I wanted him gone because of what he stands for
Then I figured well, if they want him, they must know they can control him and why make an enemy
Now: I don't know the end game but since they aren't asking us to stop it must mean they like what we are doing.
Looks like the Senate Republicans have decided to give Specter the courtesy of allowing him time to dig himself out of the hole he has dug for himself.
If he can convince us that he's a good choice for the Chairmanship then they will vote for him, but if we're still tying up their phones and email when time comes for the vote; he's out.
He didn't help himself Sunday by saying Bush didn't get a mandate.
I think he'll crack under the pressure.
Keep the calls coming to Santorum.
Here are his local office numbers:

It is way past time to put the fear of the voter and God into these self serving, small minded, public trough feeding, non term limited, arrrrggggg
it's just too disgusting ...
it is time to hound this @ss and his buddy Kerry out of the Senate. Do you think we could ever get the swimmer?
Of course there is a danger. If he's denied the chair he may well jump party out of spite. I know we that even with the expected 55 seat majority we can't but a fillibuster but we sure don't want to give up any more ground.
I'm undecided about whether to toss Spectre.
I have no trust in him. I think he will betray our attempts to place good judges on the courts.
I'm also leery of making our first statement of the new congress one of taking the rare step of removing the intended chair.
Preferably I'd prefer to leave him in symbolic position, but have his teeth removed. Meaning, remove his ability to interfere with our passing judges through but allow him to save "face". I'm not sure that is an available option. Which is why I lean toward his removal. Justices are too important to play games with, or give him the benefit of the doubt he hasn't earned.
In the interim I think Spectre deserves this firestorm. If nothing else it's payback for his conduct toward nominees in the past, as well as his treatment of this President during and after the election. I think the W.H. should continue to let him roast as long as they possibly can before a decision must be made.
I like these posts by "xzins" earlier today on another thread:
Work Teams.
Conservative Christian/Pro-Life/Pro-Family political work teams are saying privately that they will not offer coordinated workers and staffing for republicans supporting Specter.
Work teams are worth untold millions of dollars to politicians.
Political suicide to oppose.

I'm hearing it from all over.
They fight for judicial appointments or they get no workers. Period.
Judiciary is THE ISSUE that has caused the Pro-Life/Pro-Family/Pro-God/Pro-Guns groups to pour their hearts into Repub campaigns for 2 decades now.
And now it's close. Cross them now and lose them forever.
