Thanks. I'd heard a small blurb on the radio this morning, and have seen or heard nothing since.

Saudi Arabia has a better system then we do... that's a hard pill to swallow. So is the fact that France is #1.

Hard to swallow... until you realize that it's coming from the United Nations. Then it becomes meaningless.

A free health care for everyone does sound good, though. I'm currently paying off a $2,500 medical bill because I didn't have health insurance at the time.

Get in touch with the hospital and ask for a settlement amount. Quite often you can get a significant reduction if you can pay one lump sum. It's worked for me.

... bang for the buck, preventive measures, and access for vulnerable populations.

What exactly do the above 3 criteria actually have to do with "Health Care"? Pretty much nothing I think.

You have to remember what the standard is. In Saudi Arabia if you abuse drugs or have a few drinks they start chopping off body parts, hence not too many drunks or druggies. I prefer our system obviously although freedom does allow for the freedom to do things that might damage your health.

I will never even listen to a discussion about it being government's responsibility to provide health care unless there's a similarly vociferous discussion about citizens' responsibility to TAKE FREAKIN CARE OF THEMSELVES.

I couldn't pay for it all at once, so they agreed to let me pay $100.00 per month until the debt was cleared.

Good question. I agree, those criteria have nothing to do with health care. The US probably has more babies addicted to heroin and crack than Saudi Arabia.

One good measure they did not try is to take two people with identical illnesses in different countries. Study which country diagnoses and treats the illness better. I bet we would move up on the list under this standard.

The big lesson to learn is never ever do anything a liberal wants, because when it goes wrong and it will, they will blame it on some one else. The senior ballon from taxachusetts, Ted Kennedy, hoisted the HMO's on us as the cure all for affordable health care coverage, now he runs from it and blames health care problems and especially HMO nightmares of denied access on the Republicans.

But my question, if Canda is #30, and the US #38, who is number 1? The top ten?

#1? Why Cuba of course. Just ask any liberal in Hollyweird.
#'s 2-10? Any other communist/socialist country you can come up with.

Tenncare has folded

And in further news, the county of Erie (Buffalo,NY) will fold due to medicade mandates by the state of NY.

Where will it all end? When the people take back control of the government? How will that happen? Probably when the next tax revolt comes I guess. Time to put on our Indian costumes and throw some tea into the harbor I think!

Tort reform! Also get rid of state required quack care such as Naturopaths, Bone crushers, massage therapists, to name a few.

I can add a bit, since I have had some intimate contact with the Canadian Health Care system:

1. Hospitals are very dirty.
2. Doctors will try to kill their patients if they are old and considered more trouble than they are worth...saw this first hand. They need the beds.
3. Difficult to get care for difficult situations such as asthma if it is not a routine case.

I do not wish this system on us at any price. It is a disaster.
