President Bush yesterday moved aggressively to resurrect his plan to relax rules against illegal immigration, a move bound to anger conservatives just days after they helped re-elect him.
The president met privately in the Oval Office with Sen. John McCain to discuss jump-starting a stalled White House initiative that would grant legal status to millions of immigrants who broke the law to enter the United States...
Rep. Tom Tancredo, Colorado Republican and chairman of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus.
"Their amnesty plan was dead on arrival when they sent it to the Congress in January, and if they send the same pig with lipstick back to Congress next January, it will suffer the same fate," he said...

Conservatives (who helped elect President Bush in a large way) - Do Not want amnesty for the illegals nor do they want the pro-abort Specter for the Chairmanship of the Judiciary Committee!
Now when do you think they will hear us?
Doing the amnesty thing will not bring the Hispanic vote in - if that is what the Bush Administration is hoping to catch by doing this inane thing. Hispanics are more drawn to the Democratic party because they have always voted for that party and that is the party of their ancestors - never mind that the Democrats do nothing for the minorities - they just pander to the kooks!
And McCain seems to always be behind these controversial things - like when he and Kerry went to Vietnam in the 70's to declare that there were no more MIA troops left in Vietnam even though their families still believed their loved ones were still there!
I am beginning to think McCain doesn't like the conservatives (tongue in cheek)!

Days after conservatives saved his job, he urinates in our faces with an amnesty proposal that he knows we don't want.
I implore conservatives to help build up the Constitution Party NOW- so that we will be ready in 06.
How long are you going to be played for suckers? Conservatives who remain in the GOP must have some kind of battered wife syndrome. You know they really love you, that's why they beat you so much, right?
I wonder about this proposal.
What is Rove thinking?
It is not an amnesty proposal. It is an effort to regulate and control the workers who are here. It would place limits on their time here, etc.
If you all feel better having the millions here and having no control on them, so be it. But this is not an amnesty proposal. Probably it won't work because the illegals don't want to register.
I agree, but some degree of reality must be maintained.
The CP will not win the White House or a Senate seat soon. We have to get people into state legislatures and the US House under the CP party first.
Has Ron Paul ever considered switching over to give the CP some credibility?
Never
"It's really amnesty on the installment plan,"
Trying amnesty every few years is like bailing water out of a boat before you stop the leak.
We must put military on the Mexican border, build a wall, or give citizens full arrest authority BEFORE rewarding the lawbreakers who are already here.
"I implore conservatives to help build up the Constitution Party NOW- so that we will be ready in 06."
I implore conservatives to waste their vote on canidates that cannot get even 1% of the vote rather then dig in and fight for control of the Repubs party. Rather then RUN AWAY AND HIDE, fight for what you believe. But when you fight, have SOME clue what you are fighting for rather then wasting RATIONAL people's time with this sort of "I hate everything and everybody" rants.
It's like Bush & Co. are closet liberals all of a sudden.
Many here won't let facts get in the way of a good anti-Bush rant.
A new party might help dems get into office next year.
ALthough something does need to be done.
Once the illegals become legal, they can apply for a green card. So, this is essentially an amnesty program. I don't see the difference. It's just "compassionate conservative" doublespeak.
Seriously. How is this any different from what the President told us he wanted to do all along? There's nothing new here. Nothing at all.
Call to White House, say hell NO
