Missing in Action: Google Veterans Day Logo
Google Missing In Action ^ | 11 November 2004 | Me

Todays Logo from Google

Conspicuously absent from Google is a special logo for Veterans Day. Google has a long history of opposing firearms and supporting left wing causes.

Google also cherry picks its side bar advertising with a left wing bias.

Do a search on Bush and then Kerry and see for yourself.

Shame on Google.

Google Special Logos Here

Google has managed to craft special logos for Bastille Day (screw France), Earth Day, Canada Day, MLK day, a host of left wing artists and more...

Happy Veterans Day: I send my heartfelt thanks to all United States veterans for all times...thank you for my freedom, and the freedom of my family.

Google's owners are liberals...or didn't you know that?
Flying the flag, honoring our soldiers and displaying patriotism isn't a hallmark of liberals.

Thanks for the heads-up on this. Yes, they have had logos for everything else, even the Olympics. They are clever, but now I will be on the watch for the lack of any patriotic themes. The irony is that veterans have fought and are fighting for the very freedom and good quality of life that the people behind this company are currently enjoying.

I removed Google (its toolbar) when they put hearts and flowers on my computer for Valentine's Day. I learned to despise Google when they insisted on using joint o gether.org asm as a 'news' source. When I questioned them on that, I was given a boilerplate nyah-nyah answer.

Google is a left-coast left-wing operation. I abuse them when I must.

I don't know the political leanings of the owners, but from a technical standpoint recommend you try www.clusty.com for searching. (Clusty is short for cluster, as in the engine they developed.) It has features the others don't (e.g. they group the results on the left side for easier parsing.) They're now my primary search resource.

Just was reading an article linked from Drudge that Microsoft is going to be launching a rival to Google:

Microsoft Launches Web Search Technology

I THINK that Bill Gates of MS is a Bush supporter. Perhaps someone else knows for sure.

(This is my first post to FR tho I've been lurking for ages. FR has become my number one source of news and excellent commentary. :) Anyway ... hopefully the link turns out okay.)

As someone who spends an extensive amount of time on the Google site, I'm truly disappointed. But, since Bill has donated major $$ to the Republican party (as well as several Demoncrats too, but more towards the good guys), I guess I'm going to have to switch when their engine gets up and going.

Truly disappointing, but not unexpected.

I use and will continue to use Google daily in my duties as a Private Investigator. In addition, I have used it countless times to research information on leftist socialist causes & people. Finally, my stock portfolio has seen a very substantial increase over the past few months since Google went public. If this is how they want to send their petty messages, sobeit. The fact is, our guy is in the White House, and Google helps me make money on a daily basis.

A former Google user, I switched to www.alltheweb.com earlier this year after Google refused advertising from a Christian website because they supposedly "promoted hatred and intolerance of homosexuals." Now they have a policy of refusing advertisements for guns and ammunition:

"At this time, Google policy does not permit the advertisement of websites that contain 'firearms and ammunition.' As noted in our advertising terms and conditions, we reserve the right to exercise editorial discretion when it comes to the advertising we accept on our site. This content is not permitted as ad text or keywords."

(read more about this here: http://www.crosswalk.com/news/1223736.html ).

Google is far left.

My email to everyone at Google:

Looking at your logo today, it would seem that you are not aware that today is Veterans Day. Perhaps you could do a Google search to verify that fact and then suggest to your graphics department that they create something appropriate to honor the thousands of veterans who have made your freedom (and wealth) possible.

Here is the email I sent and the reply I received within the hour...

I am disappointed in your neglect to create a Veteran's Day logo, especially while we have troops deployed overseas. Recently, you have gone so far as to have special logos for Ray Charles' birthday, the winning of the X prize, and the birthday of Gaston Julia. But nothing for Veteran's Day? I sincerely hope this was a careless oversight on your part and not an attempt to make a political statement. Whether you agree with the current mission or not, it does not change the fact that thousands of soldiers (past and present) have put their own lives on the line merely because their country needed them. Veteran's Day does not just honor the soldiers of the current conflict, but also remembers the brave actions of those soldiers that fought in all of history's wars. Thousands and thousands of children grew up without fathers because of the solemn and selfless duty of soldiers and countless young men were permanently disabled due to their service. At the very least, I think these sacrifices deserve some Google-logo recognition and respect.

Response:
Thank you for your note. We're glad that you appreciate Google's holiday logos and would like to explain why we didn't post one for Veterans Day this year. Please be assured that the decision whether to display a special logo for a holiday does not reflect any judgment on our part about the holiday itself. Google's special logos tend to be lighthearted in nature. If we were to commemorate Veterans Day, we would want to express reverence, rather than mirth. This would be a particularly challenging design. We would not want to, in any way, create a graphic that could be interpreted as disrespectful. In light of the mail we've received about this, we're actively considering designs we could display on this day next year. We welcome any suggestions you may have. Regards, The Google Team

That search engine works very well!

As a test, and since we're discussing Veterans Day, I decided to look for a B-17 from my grandfather's WW2 squadron.
I found it! I've only seen one other ref. to this B-17 on the 'net.
It was shot down in Mar 1944 with only 3 survivors. He was part of the ground crew.

I have the photos he saved; here is the one I found through Clusty:

I tend to use multiple engines....not a real Google fan. The used to be good...no longer impressed with the quality of links I see when I have used them lately. Suspicious of any engine that has Pay for Placement AND I have contracted spyware from a few sites CACHED by Google. F*** that.

Want to get "back" at them? Search for meta search engines on Google and find something better.....HA!!!!!
