Take Action! Protect Our Courts and Moderate Republican Voices (Barf Alert)
Planned Parenthood ^ | N/A | Planned Parenthood

Posted on 11/11/2004 1:48:45 PM PST by swilhelm73

Right-wing conservatives are demanding that Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) be prevented from chairing the Senate Judiciary Committee because of published comments regarding likely anti-choice Supreme Court nominees. Specter remarked in a press conference on Wednesday that nominees who would attempt to overturn Roe v. Wade would be too conservative to be confirmed.

Speak out today to protect our courts from extremist judicial nominees and the demands of anti-choice hardliners.

Tell me more

The message below will be sent on your behalf

Subject: Thank you Senator Specter

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

Thank you for your leadership on the Senate Judiciary Committee. I appreciate your respect for a constitutional right to privacy. Do not give in to extremist demands that your moderate voice be silenced. Stay strong. Now, more than ever, your courage and the leadership of other moderate Republicans is needed.

Sincerely, [Your name] [Your address]

Alright...we're succeeding in energizing the left even before anyone actually gets nominated. Great tactic.

In two newspaper interviews before the election, Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter promised to block pro-life and "extremist" judges appointed by President Bush, apparently contradicting claims he is making now amid fierce opposition to his becoming chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

You know, one thing we have to keep in mind regarding Planned Parenthood and their ilk is that they make money from performing abortions. It's an industry and, actually, a very lucrative one. It's in their financial interest to promote this crap.

So over 50% of the country are "anti-choice extremists"? You'd think these people would have gotten the message after this election.

I've not seen much from Bush suggesting he would lean to the right of Specter when it comes to the judiciary.

If you have a link to something that proves I am wrong please post it.

Good point. I forgot about that.

It just really does scare me to see a social liberal heading up Justice.

Re: "Alright...we're succeeding in energizing the left even before anyone actually gets nominated. Great tactic."

Well I agree with you it is not the best tactic, alas a Sen Toomey is no longer an option and all for the honor of the GOP winning PA. No wait, that doesn't work either.

So what is the point to RINO sarcasm?

Two points:

1) The very people who most want to overturn abortion may well be the reason that Pro-Life nominees aren't confirmed. This whole campaign against who will or will not be the chairman of the committee, and now the same public outrage over Gonzales, is doing nothing more then energizing and mobilizing the pro-abortion people. Soon the e-mail, faxes, phone calls and letters coming in from that side will be such as great as from the Pro-Life side. All of this BEFORE a single person has been nominated.

2) The scorched earth demands will get people no were. Already there are vocal groups launching similar campaigns about the latest "amnesty" rumors, using the exact same tactic...listen to us or else. Peter just isn't crying wolf, so is John and George. If advocates believe this will work they will not be happy with the results.

Unfortunately, neither will allowing ourselves to be incrementally drawn into LiberalLand like we have for the past few decades by allowing RINOs to drag us down.

I have a little tolerance for rightward RINOs. I have none for leftward ones.

Exactly, so why should the GOP care one way or the other how you feel about any issue?

"Over a million babies die every year."

And creating gridlock within the Senate Judiciary Committee before even the first nominess is submitted will help prevent this how?

"On balance your argument stinks. Sorry but it does."

On balance your tactics stink. Sorry but they do.

No gridlock yet and there will not be if the GOP leadership sticks to their base voters. It is only if many in the GOP are pro-life posers will there be a problem.

I am sure the fakers just love the views you express.

It has been long enough. Abortion must end now. Note to the GOP: deliver or perish.

"No gridlock yet and there will not be if the GOP leadership sticks to their base voters."

Their base isn't Pro-Life, a part of their base is. And you dismiss the Democratic Senators since it's a procedure of the Senate and they will have a say. An element of their base is pro-abortion and thanks to efforts such as this one, they're now launching their own efforts. Gridlock.

" I am sure the fakers just love the views you express."

I'm sure every abortion clinic appreciations your views and efforts, it makes the job of energizing their people so much easier.

"It has been long enough. Abortion must end now."

It won't with tactics like this, the war will be lost before the first battle is fought.
