Everything the devil does is a perversion of the Gospel.

All the parallels are there. However, you're very correct about the style of writing and the depth of thought in the Koran. That's why it's taught by constant repetition until it's memorized. It's the devil's substitute for the Bible.

The story I read was that Mohammed had told people he was looking for GOD (in a cave) when he received this information for the Koran. He said he was visited by "an angel of light" in a cave. Uh ... excuse me .. if you're looking for GOD - I don't recommend going to a cave. Oh yeah, an "angel of light" in the Bible is said to be evil.

If you ever study anything about cults - you'll find a very similar parallel.

"to be drawn to Islamic fundamentalism..."

I honestly don't think people are in any sincere way "drawn" to this blood-and-death devil cult. They are born into it and, as you both say, it's a "by rote" cult. Constant repetition from babyhood, of these murderous phrases, demands, commands, exhortations to kill, kill, kill. This is the greatest scourge EVER!

The Shinto religion and the belief that the Japanese Emperor was a god was bad enough, but it was confined to that one island nation. What is so horrifying (and difficult to combat) about this inhuman cult is that it is everywhere. It is spreading like a true intellectual, psychological virus, and I'm frankly scared out of my wits about it.

I read FR comments here and there on different threads where someone will say, "Well, just NUKE 'EM!"

Hunh?

You can't "nuke" an ideology!

I wish I knew what the answer is, but President Bush certainly isn't wrong to be promoting democracy. It's literally "man's last, best hope for mankind's salvation."

Maybe so, but IMO polygamy is a core problem of the horrific treatment of women and children.

Thank you for your reply! Indeed, it is an ideology - not a geopolitical unit that can be sanctioned or contained. And therefore, I agree that the spreading of democracy is the greatest hope to diminish the blood lust.

OTOH, if the worst should come to pass then what can we say but Maranatha! Either way, we Christians are in Good hands.

It is my understanding that while polygamy is technically legal in many Arab countries, it is not common and only a very small percentage of marriages are polygamous. Since there does seem to be a widespread problem with the treatment of women and children, there must be an explanation beyond polygamy since the vast majority of this ill-treatment is occuring in non-polygamous households.

Just because all unions are not polygamous doesn't mean that the vicious treatment of women in polygamous societies is excused.

Thanks for the ping!

Any "religion" which allows the decapitation of innocent people forfeits the right to describe itself as such.
