I've been following the battle in Fallujah as closely as possible and am proud of what's been accomplished in so short a time.

A new pride is also being instilled in the Iraqi forces fighting alongside our Marines. A pride upon which a new nation will be built.

May the father of this brave marine, and the families of all the fallen know that their loved one's did not die in vain. May they be surrounded with comforting friends and hear the voices of those who honor their memories, and may God grant them peace.

I for one do not need to see this photo as I am aware of it daily, but thank you for posting it, anyway. I think of them every day as I watch the reports on the news and I ask anyone who wants to, to join me in a prayer: Lord, you are in control of all things. We thank You that you have blessed America, and look to You as we fight against those who are determined to keep Iraq in turmoil. Cause their numbers to quickly diminish, Lord for their plans are evil, and they despise peace and freedom. Grant our forces and those in charge all wisdom as they fight against this reckless enemy. Protect our military and grant them an overwhelming victory in Fallujah and all over Iraq. Amen

"Yes, there are even Navy Corpsmen that have been temp assigned to jobs such as snipers. I read about one that did at the main OIF section on the Marine Corps web site.

If you cannot get the article to pop up, send me email and I will give you sequence of instructions to located the article. I first go to the MC OIF site, then in this case, had to wade back to October 17 range articles where it talks about
"Petty Officer 2nd Class Dwayne McBryde, the platoon corpsman for scout sniper platoon, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 7, is more than just a medical aide for his sniper teammates. He spent 10 years as a machine gunner for the Marine Corps, and then eights years as a civilian paramedic before reenlisting in the Navy."

McBryde spent six months with Company A, 1/23, RCT-7, where his reputation as a knowledgeable corpsman led to his reassignment to the scout sniper platoon. He has been with the snipers ever since.

NOW as I re-read the article I am wondering if I have mis-interpreted what the article was saying. At the time I was sure it implied that this ex-Marine now Corpsmen was performing a dual rule as required. Remember it was just one of a number of articles I would read each day at this site amoung others, each day for the past 8 months or so............... no excuse..... but it appears my old brain is getting quite soft.


Point I was trying to make is that Corpsmen are highly trained and courages and work closely with those Marine platoons they serve, as you are very aware. I probably should not have made the reference I did, it is an isolated case.

He was assigned to the sniper platoon as the corpsman - they did not make him a sniper.

I understand some of what you are saying, but there is one thing I must say in response to your post- there are men I have met throughout my life that I would not want beside me in a rope pulling contest, much less in battle, physical endurance and stamina be damned. And there are women that I would pick over those men any day.
