Blogger Ana Marie Cox, whose exit-poll postings on her site wonkette.com contributed to the flurry of Democratic excitement on Election Day, has gotten into a nasty spat with right-wing Newsweek writer Charles Gasparino.
The tiff started when the two clashed over politics on Tina Brown's CNBC show, "Topic A," back on Oct. 10. The next day, Cox told the Society of Professional Journalists at Columbia University: "He's just kind of a dork ... I just think he's just a jerk."
Gasparino fired back last week: "She's not a journalist. The problem with these liberal pundits is they have no clue what average Americans are thinking. I'm a reporter, I talk to a lot of people. If you sit around in cocktail parties in Georgetown like she does...

Gasparino fired back last week: "She's not a journalist. The problem with these liberal pundits is they have no clue what average Americans are thinking. I'm a reporter, I talk to a lot of people. If you sit around in cocktail parties in Georgetown like she does and you listen to the same people, of course you will miss the election."
"I apologize for calling him a jerk. He is not a jerk," Cox responded. "But he hasn't done any investigation into either what is on my blog or in my life. I'm a bourbon-drinking, dive-bar-going kind of girl."
As for the exit polls she posted, "I didn't personally conduct the exit polls, you know - and we'll never know if Kerry snatched defeat from the jaws of victory or if he was losing all along."
Never heard of either of them. They're probably both going to put this clipping in their scrapbooks.
Sounds like a Kerry gal.
Wonkette, a liberal, is simply described as a "blogger," while the Newsweek guy gets labelled a "conservative."
Doesn't this suggest that Gasparino finds conservative blogs more reflective of reality?
Is that about right?
She makes the following arguement about the Freepers.
"Granted, this is arguably the subtext of all Free Republic threads. This time, however, no one needs to invade a country in order to prove his manhood." -- it is a good laugh and we should be happy that a trampy little blogger takes real men seriously. /sarcasm off
Muff diving bar?
I think Ann Marie Cox is more aptly described as, "slut".
Is that about right?
Actually you left out the "N".
It's Slunt.
Kinda two words in one.
I hate to knock a conservative, but it's a tired, tired argument to tell a blogger, "You have no right to an opinion because you're not a professional journalist."
That's what all the self-annointed journalists told Drudge, and they were wrong.
How about arguing the case on the merits? I have no use for Wonkette, but the other guy sounds like a jerk too.
Get over yourself, bimbo.
She is clearly a willing participant in the MSM's concerted efforts to suppress the Bush vote on election day.
In the future, I suggest that Fox contract with a repurable polling firm (Mason-Dixon?) to have their own exit polls done. This year, the Fox money contributed to the consortium was was to help fund the fraud.
Now, who at CBS/CNN/NBC/ABC were conspiring to keep Fox in the dark while pilfering their money to help fund an attempted media coup?
Not exactly what I had in mind for learning something new every day, but I'll take it! Great slang word.
Wonkette is a glorified "ho" (for lack of a better term), who, along with her blogging counterpart Washingtienne has slept her way all the way 'round the trailer park.
Wonkette could keep her cute blog running for a week with my manhood. LOL
after a BIG win - it is important to keep your humor. That Wonkette thinks the Freepers are all about manhood is a tribute to the site. Real bar girls like real men.
"I'm a bourbon-drinking, dive-bar-going kind of girl."
No one is complaining about your bourbon drinking or dive bar going, honey.
