I respect the principles of the Constitution Party. But they are wasting their time if they ever want power to bring change in our political system. Our political does not, and never will, support three viable political parties equal in importance and policy-making power.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful here. I understand what drives people to make this decision. I've wondered about it a few times myself.

But I only have one life to live, and I want to spend it making a difference. That's why (for now) I hang my hat in the Republican Party.

Having said that, yes, Peroutka makes some excellent points. His stand on the WOT is very wrong. But he makes good points from time to time.

"But I only have one life to live, and I want to spend it making a difference."

You want make a difference irrespective of the fact of whether that difference is negative or positive. (I write this as a declarative statement, not as an interrogative one.)

The only viable third party that I can picture is one that is comprised of the remnants of the conservative wing of the Democratic Party, i.e. "Blue Dogs" and "Reagan Democrats", and the more ideological-but less partisan-members of the GOP.

Possibly something along the lines of the coalition that Gov. John Connally and President Nixon were planning during the late '60s.
