Jump out. Kick in door. Spray machine-gun fire. Run to rooftop. Kill enemy. Jump back into armored vehicle. Move to new location.

So goes the battle for Fallujah as experienced Friday by the exhausted and bewildered soldiers of the 3rd Brigade of the Army's 1st Infantry Division. Flanked by Marines, the bleary-eyed troops led the southern push to corner die-hard Sunni Muslim insurgents who were the last obstacles to full American control of the city.

"Bewildered"??!! I can think of many many words to describe the men who have taken Fallujah, but bewildered isn't one of them. Bewildered defines to a "T" the MSM.

I doubt "bewildered". At this point in the battle it's adrenalin and uppers.

That phraseology struck me as strange too. But the article contains other subtle jabs and pokes.

I liked another posters "request" of Pink Floyd's Run Like Hell:
Oh...run run run run run run run run run run
You better make your face up,
In your favorite disguise,
With your button-down lips,
And your roller blind eyes.
With your empty smile,
And your hungry heart,
Feel the bile rising,
From your guilty past.
With your nerves in tatters,
As the cockleshell shatters,
And the hammers batter,
Down your door,
You better run.
Run run run run run run run run run
You better run all day,
And run all night.
And keep your dirty feelings deep inside.
And if you're taking your girlfriend out tonight,
You better park the car well out of sight.
'Cause if they catch you in the back seat,
Trying to pick her lock,
They're gonna send you back to Mother,
In a cardboard box.
You better run
Run run run run run run run run run

Much more apropos, if ya ask me...

Patricia Ruth -- you are so right about signing up and adopting a soldier or two. I've been fortunate to know soldiers throughout the past 3 years of WOT; I've several under my wing currently, sending care packages, and staying in touch with their families -- who also need the support. When my child served in Afghanistan 2002, I learned how hard and lonely it can be to not have friends involved with you in your concern for your soldier. It all got more organized as the war progressed, and all kinds of family support teams across America began and I got to witness HOW MUCH it served the family to know others cared for their loved one soldier; but also, for the soldier to know their families back home were being cared for and about.

Just want to thank you for your continuing efforts to get we, the defended, involved with those who are defending our freedoms.

Yeah, it seems the journalist tries to convey a sense of disorganisation. I'm sure these guys are tired as hell though. Frankly, I think the next operation (if there is one) should exclude journalists. It only endangers the troops to have a non-combatant tagging along, and some of the journalists are clearly anti-war. Besides, how many times haven't we heard journalists talk about "embedding" as if though it's an army ploy to manipulate the news. If they don;t like embedding and think it "slants" the news, then don't let them come along.

You probably mean the Diogenesis thread. Dio has been doing them for some time on FR.
