Police officials in Prince George's and Montgomery counties are warning officers that a Salvadoran street gang is plotting to ambush and kill them when they respond to service calls.
The warnings have been issued based on intelligence gathered from the Langley Park area, a known base for members of the MS-13 gang, officials said. The area straddles two counties.
'snip'
In July 2002, The Washington Times reported that MS-13 had dispatched about 20 gang members from California to Fairfax County to kill a county police officer at random.
There were two confirmed cases in which MS-13 members tried to lure officers behind buildings in the Culmore area of Fairfax County to ambush them, but no officers were killed.

I'll say it here first.
They only want to kill cops that most americans don't want to kill.

Keep in mind both of these counties (and police), ... I think that comes from the politicians, not the police.

The police can respond but can't suspect jobless people with dark complexions, bandanas or gang tattoos hanging out in groups as being actual gang members. That would be profiling...arg...gurgle...choke...
Seriously, the bandanas make for convenient quick sighting. With any luck survivors will expire from infections caused from nasty embedded cloth fragments.

And the handgun control freaks want even a tighter ban on legal weapons in the metro DC area (already banned in DC itself, right?). Whose going to protect the public when the police themselves are targets?

The same thing is happening in Charlotte, NC with an explosion in violent illegals.

You can fax Congress for FREE and they give you canned letters plus send you email alerts on legislation. They are making a difference and have stopped a lot of bad laws and one attempt at amnesty.

They had a running gunfight in DC last year. There was a thread here but I can't find it.
To: NewRomeTacitus
They are the 'hardest working' of all the gangs though. They really care for their fellow members too.
To: 4.1O dana super trac pak
Maybe the Marines can work on this gang once they are done with Fallujah.

MS isn't really into lettuce-picking. They're basically living off the crimes they commit, and even jail or prison beats the streets they come from at "home". Nasty bunch of folks.

I'm glad this is happening right in D.C.'s face. They don't really have a gang problem though, Where I live there are 7,000 asian gang members alone. That doesn't figgure in the "Crypts", the "Bloods", and all the rest.

Really, in Texas? Unbelievable.
To: 4.1O dana super trac pak
indeed, they are everywhere here. I feel safer in many parts of manhattan then I do here in Nassau now. I never go to the large shopping malls like Roosevelt Field unless I take a day off from work; after school lets out and on weekends, it looks like a scene from the movie Colors at the mall.
someday soon here, there is going to be some kind of gang related crime of significant proportion that is going to shock these sleepy long islanders into realizing exactly what the demographic changes have brought. I know alot of people moving out of Nassau, back to Queens and Brooklyn - they avoid these insane LIRR fares (going up again), and the quality of life is about the same.

They get um into a pursuit, head down a prearranged dead end street, and open up. Folks on the east coast will love this immigration chaos. Aint seen nothing yet.

From the article...
about 3,600 gang members are believed to be in the metropolitan area.
Good Lord! Compare this to the number of insurgents estimated to be in Fallujah.

Roosevelt Field - thanks for the tip. Guess they spent all that money to end up like the Green Acres mall.

Thanks Squantos, I had not heard of anything futher.
Joe you must have been thinking of another incident. I think this Richardson one was a couple of weeks ago, with the perps using automatic weapons shooting at the police. The last I heard is that they were in the Plano area, had ditched one car and had stolen another.

Actually, I may have this confused with another robbery, but if I am not mistaken, at least one of the suspects from the Richardson robbery are in custody.

On my way to work the earlier this week, I caught a local radio station news report. A Mexican national was arrested in a neighborhood in northern NJ. He's one of Mexico's most wanted, involved in a shoot-out with Mexican police and the execution-style murder of someone. He has been returned to Mexico.

Generally, once they have one, it's only a matter of time till they get his buddy/buddies. There is no honor among thieves when looking at a reduced sentence for ratting your partner in crime.
