Clinton Library Opening in Little Rock ["Messy Legacy" Will Be On Full Display]
AP ^ | Sun Nov 14 | DAVID HAMMER

As Bill Clinton's library is unveiled at a gala opening this week, one thing is certain: His messy legacy will be on full display.

One alcove will be dedicated to impeachment, and organizers have promised not to sidestep even Monica Lewinsky or Paula Jones. The 58-year-old political superstar is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors a year to his library.

"Bill Clinton is a rock star," said Skip Rutherford, head of Clinton's nonprofit foundation that built the $165 million library. "He is Elvis."

The William J. Clinton Presidential Center, a metaphorical "bridge to the 21st century" cantilevered out over the bank of the Arkansas River, opens Thursday as the highlight of a week of programs, exhibits and symposiums.

The week will include an Aretha Franklin concert, a science discussion by astronaut and former Democratic Sen. John Glenn, dedication of new sculptures on the riverfront and at the airport, and a reception to which Whoopi Goldberg, Cicely Tyson and Quincy Jones have been invited.

At Thursday morning's grand opening, speakers will include Clinton, his wife Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, President Bush, former President Bush and former President Carter. Some 30,000 guests have been invited to gather on the library lawn and U2's Bono and The Edge will perform.

This political "Elvis" will never be able to erase his real legacy - that of being a male slut.

He should hire Monica to be the "official greeter" at the library. Maybe the gift shop could sell her line of "designer" hand bags. Man, who would have thought that you could use "Monica" "hand" and "bag" in the same post and it not have innuendo written all over it.

>>>> The Travel Office firings
>>>> The last minute pardon of Mark Rich and other assorted ne'er do wells.

"Bill Clinton is a rock star," said Skip Rutherford, head of Clinton's nonprofit foundation that built the $165 million library. "He is Elvis."
And that was the big problem with his 8 years at the White House. Clinton believed and behaved as if he was a 'star'. Not too far down that 'rock star road', Bill Clinton forgot that we was President.

Yes, he is Elvis - Elvis Costello. Intermittent weight problem, great early promise followed by mediocrity at best, wife who thinks she's actually more talented and that SHE should be the more famous one, history of anti-American statements and actions. They couldn't have nailed it better.

Does anyone know if that part of Arkansas where bubba's lie-bury is ever has earthquakes? I mean, is there any hope the earth will open up and swallow that thing?

Ego maniacs of his proportions generally can't handle not being in the spotlight. He attained Presidency at a fairly young age, peaked and now what? Kerry lost so not much use for ole Billy boy and after him being on his world wide high for eight long years then come to an end must be devastating to his insatiable ego. Basically Bill has ran the gamut and now he'll wither on the vine.

Come listen to a story about a man called Bill

A former President with his fat first lady Hill

As Governor of Arkansas before he was President

He became the proud owner of the title "Mister Bent"

Crooked, that is, just like a serpent's tail.

Well the first thing you know Paula filed a lawsuit

And this brought forth the Bimbo squad in ad hominem pursuit

They said she was a gold-digger, a partisan, a whore

But her charge was allowed to go forth since it was filed well before

A'fore he was President, that is, Mister Big.

And then one day he was workin during Easta

He got himself an appetite for a real hot slice of pizza

I can't finish this...

I agree he thrives on attention but his problem is medical. The surgery really took a lot out of him. The skin on his face was hanging in folds.

"The surgery really took a lot out of him. The skin on his face was hanging in folds."

Anyone who drops a lot of weight after age 45 does not have the luck of the skin snapping back into place. The elasticity goes away with the aging process while the loose skin stays unless the person gets the excess skin folds surgically removed.
