I do believe she'd make a very good Secretary of State.

I wonder how the Democrats re going to spin this.

Then again, why ruin my morning with negative thoughts?

Yeah, I don't care much for his statements basically selling out Taiwan. I thought we were trying to promote democracy, not communism. Maybe Condi gets it, but I think it will be somebody else. I could see James Baker returning.

hate to say it, but good riddance.

although, I think he was correct and should have been listened to on Iraq in his "Pottery Barn" analogy. "You break it, you own it."

It doesn't break my heart none. I've never been his greatest fan, to say the least.

But I will say this: on balance, he's been a very loyal and supportive team-player. We've gotten noises about this and that variance from W, but when crunch-time came, he always stood with the President.

And this: he gave W more claim to credibility from those not initially inclined to give it. He's universally admired and respected, for the most part, and it was indeed a plus for W to have him on his team.

Now I hope (A) for a good replacement, and (B) that Powell has the brains to know that every MSM reporter in the known universe will try to lavish adoration on him if he will trash W, from the first nanosecond he's gone, and (B) the character to resist that temptation.
