For those that have seen this letter and gotten mad.

Posted on 11/15/2004 8:40:09 AM PST by wkdaysoff

Forget the South. We should have let them go when they wanted to leave. But no, we had to kill half a million people so they'd stay part of our special Union. Fighting for the right to keep slaves - yeah, those are states we want to keep.

And now what do we get? We're the Arrogant Northeast Liberal Elite? How about this for arrogant: the South is the Real America? The Authentic America. Really?

Bleh, bleh, bleh.

This letter conveniently fails to mention that the great unwashed in the blue states(people making less than $15,000) voted for kerry 63% to 36%.

While people who actually were paying taxes in the blue states preferred Bush!!!

Also people with no high schol diploma in the blue states preferred Kerry while college grads preferred Bush.

Libs can't have it both ways!

I've seen far more racism and racial problems from the Blue States in the last 25 years than I have the Red States.

The people who fought on both sides are long since dead. I will put the average southerner up against the average northerner in any contest of patriotism, common sense, or love for his fellow man.

The southerner will whup azz.

That's because the liberals MAKE problems out of nothing. They LOOK for "racism" and "racial problems", when infact, that aren't as many as you'd think.

"Libs can't have it both ways!"

Do not be too sure about that. Libs are (1) confused; (2) not given to dealing with reality; and (3) voted for Senator FlipFlop. :)

I'll say it many times, but one must compare the life of the slave before the civil in the north and the south. The cause-effect relationship afterwards always cast the south as the bad entity. But that's the past, the two brothers have fought with each other and the family moves on, hand-in-hand together. And like it or not, the extended family prefers the color red, and that's what the red, white and blue is and shall forever be.

It must irritate the North no end to find out that Southerners don't give a rat's ass what they think.

Just remember, the only ex-Klansman in today's Senate is a Democrat! Democrats were the preponderant party in the slave-holding South, during that point in history.

The abolitionists during the Civil War era were Republicans, by the way.

History's a bitch, ain't it?

And all three seem to be to be indicators of mental health issues.

I've not seen the letter but I think I've seen the web site it comes from: http://fuckthesouth.com/

I mention this on the off chance some one might have an interest in "communicating" with the author ~ if so, a "contact" address is listed at the bottom of the page.

Absolutely. In 1999, I moved to Michigan (the non-Detroit area) after 50 years in Texas. I heard the "N-word" used multiple times per day there, where almost the entire population was Caucasian. In Texas, I rarely heard it.

I travel extensively in the U.S., including the South. The mid-West seems to me MUCH more racist.

You know, we need better definitions as to just where "the Midwest" begins and ends. I'd refer to Michigan as "the Great Lakes region". I'm in Kansas, and we consider ourselves Midwest, althoug others refer to us as "plains". I've even heard folks refer to Colorado and Wyomng as Midwest. It all gets a tad confusing due to imprecision.

So, when you say "the Midwest" is most racist, do you mean the Rust Belt, the Great Lakes, the Upper Plains, the Lower plains, the breadbasket, the grainbelt, the mountain west, the heartland.... what? :-)

Last night I saw Lester Maddox on a TV show
With some smart ass New York Jew
And the Jew laughed at Lester Maddox
And the audience laughed at Lester Maddox too
Well he may be a fool but he's our fool
If they think they're better than him they're wrong
So I went to the park and I took some paper along
And that's where I made this song

We talk real funny down here
We drink too much and we laugh too loud
We're too dumb to make it in no Northern town
And we're keepin' the niggers down

We got no-necked oilmen from Texas
And good ol' boys from Tennessee
And college men from LSU
Went in dumb. Come out dumb too
Hustlin' 'round Atlanta in their alligator shoes
Gettin' drunk every weekend at the barbecues
And they're keepin' the niggers down

CHORUS
We're rednecks, rednecks
And we don't know our ass from a hole in the ground
We're rednecks, we're rednecks
And we're keeping the niggers down

Now your northern nigger's a Negro
You see he's got his dignity
Down here we're too ignorant to realize
That the North has set the nigger free

Yes he's free to be put in a cage In Harlem in New York City
And he's free to be put in a cage on the South-Side of Chicago
And the West-Side
And he's free to be put in a cage in Hough in Cleveland
And he's free to be put in a cage in East St. Louis
And he's free to be put in a cage in Fillmore in San Francisco
And he's free to be put in a cage in Roxbury in Boston
They're gatherin' 'em up from miles around
Keepin' the niggers down

Randy Newman - "Rednecks" from the album "Good Old Boys"

Well, that's a good point--definition. I was in California last week when a person referred to one of my business associates (from Michigan) as a fellow midwesterner. This person was from South Dakota. It would be difficult for me to think of two more disparate states.

Anyway, I was referring to rust belt, mainly. I don't even know why people consider the rust belt as "west" at all any more. They were damned Yankees when I was in Texas and they are damned Yankees to me now (except most of Indiana, which I have a fondness for).

Guys, this is NOT about a North/South thing. This is a thing about many Americans wanting to be part of Europe (and be against anything which this nation was founded upon) so bad that they are willing to do anything, including destruction of the union.

I've got $20 that says Larry O'Donnell was the original author of that.

He used the exact same talking points a week ago Saturday on McLaughlin before that email got hot.
