I am being sued for something that happened at the December 2000 Freep of Joe Lieberman.

JimRob has allowed me to hold an internet fundraiser to help defray the costs of my lawyers fees.

I am broke and thousands of dollars in debt, and depending on how much I can collect here, I amnot sure if I can continue or work to sign a mutual release if offered.

Right now, we have ended the discovery phase, and are awaiting the deposition of the man who accused me of assaulting him that day.

That charge is a lie.

The following story below is my short account of what happened that day.

I have an excellent lawyer, and wish I could reveal more, but...

If you don't mind me asking, why is it this excellent lawyer doesn't have a better plan than running up legal bills into the thousands defending against such bogus charges?

Right in front of me, on the other side of the street, was this youngish girl also with a big smile, milling around among our group (we had seen her earlier with the other crowd) getting into position to take the picture that appeared in the paper the next morning! He did look like he might be causing trouble. He certainly had no business getting into the truck.

It sounds as though there is a possibility that RB was set up. I wondered about that already.

well, not sure about CT, but the civil courts never "bury" fradulent plantiffs - that why fraudulent suits of all kinds enter the system in such large numbers, the plantiffs have no fear - it they lose, they just walk away.

I have no idea. I just know what Race wrote and that is that he owes his lawyer over $8,000. Not an easy bill to pay being out of work.

Race, I wish you would set up a Paypal account. The donations would come in much faster and I think you'd get more too. It's just a few clicks away and the money is sent.

I have realized long after the fact that I omitted the book and chapter from that scripture reference.

It comes from James 2.

At least this gives me another chance to bump the thread ... :-)

LOL, as I wrote 'her' I thought the same thing, but left it as 'her' anyway. Just a vibe I guess....and I'm female....

Whether the poster is a he or a she, the message is/was reprehensible.

good points. the fradulent plantiff has no fear in our system, that's why it is so broken and why so many fradulent cases enter the system.

How about Howie Carr, too - he's always using Free Republic for show prep!!
Anybody know his screen name??

LOL, you're right about Howie Carr and "FR show prep"! Ahem... I can think of a few other talk radio hosts who certainly seem to use FR as show prep as well. ;-)

Little Bill, Electric Strawberry: Would you happen to know Howie's screen name (if he has one)?

I suspect that, in addition to the actual pleasings of the filing, the specifics of his *alleged* damages are to be found in discovery or depositions - An extremely expensive and time consuming process that S**theads like this delay and use as another means of inflicting punishment on this unfortunate defendant.

"God is faithful.

If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain: "Be thou removed and be cast into the sea", and if you doubt not, you will have what you ask.

If it makes you feel better, I know people that have been bit savagely by dogs, taking 12 or so stitches, and got less than 15k. And that's CA.

If you don't already know, I'd find out fast what this guy is alleging as far as damages and injury. Then I'd do a background on him. Is he working? Was he working? Did he have to quit due to injuries? When did he stop working? Who paying his bills? Is he now working under the table while alleging injury? How many other civil actions/law suites has he been involved in? I could go on. For not much money, you can find all this out, and *much* more.

I have read this entire thread so I could get a feel for who you are since I'm very new here. It appears you are one of the good guys. As the mother of a Marine I would be honored to send you some money. As the wife of an attorney we often discuss how the courts are clogged with ridiculous lawsuits. This seems to be one of them. Unfortunately, some judges think everybody, know matter how worthless, should be allowed their day in court. I could tell you some stories. Anyway, good luck and the check is in the mail.
