I am being sued for something that happened at the December 2000 Freep of Joe Lieberman.
JimRob has allowed me to hold an internet fundraiser to help defray the costs of my lawyers fees.
I am broke and thousands of dollars in debt, and depending on how much I can collect here, I amnot sure if I can continue or work to sign a mutual release if offered.
Right now, we have ended the discovery phase, and are awaiting the deposition of the man who accused me of assaulting him that day.
That charge is a lie.
The following story below is my short account of what happened that day.

Your response doesn't seem correct. A few years ago my grandmother was sick and trying to get her estate under 475,000.00 for tax reasons. She gifted 10,000.00 each to myself, my two siblings, my father, and my uncle. None of us had to pay taxes on the 10,000.00.
That said, I don't think this situation qualifies for the 11,000.00 gift tax exclusion.

Very well said. Although Race and I have gone at it hammer and tongs on a few of the "evolution" threads, I'm 100% behind him on this, even though I'm pressed for cash myself and can't spare any -- I would if I could. But if I can contribute anything in the way of manpower, information, or moral support, just say the word and I'm there.
I'm sorry that some other Freepers can't bring themselves to feel likewise due to past disagreements.
I'm not the only one that has had problems with PayPal.
I had heard from others who had trouble getting their money from PayPal when I was buying on eBay.
City teen, pastor involved in scuffle

NEW HAVEN — It was primary day in the city, and elections in New Haven are rarely uneventful.
However, last Tuesday, the primary drama took a new twist when a city teenager campaigning for the mayoral challenger alleged he was choked by a prominent city pastor and political powerbroker.
The Rev. Boise Kimber, one of Mayor John DeStefano Jr.’s staunchest supporters, denied choking 19-year-old Joseph Cotton, but admitted to police he pushed him because he felt "threatened." No charges were filed.
Cotton supported Sherri Killins, who opposed DeStefano in the Democratic primary, which DeStefano won handily.
The breach last Tuesday likely would have gone unnoticed were it not for the participants. However, because of Kimber’s prominence — and propensity for controversy — the story made its rounds through politicos across the city.
The incident happened just before noon outside Martin Luther King School, 580 Dixwell Ave., one of the city’s polling places.
According to a police report, Cotton ran up to a police officer and claimed he was hanging Killins political posters near the school when Kimber walked over and "grabbed him around the neck."
A moment later, Kimber approached the officer and initially maintained he didn’t touch Cotton but accused the young man of both pulling down DeStefano signs and stapling Killins signs on top of the mayor’s posters. During the same conversation, however, Kimber acknowledged he did push Cotton but did so because he felt threatened because Cotton was holding a staple gun.
Another witness at the scene came forward, who supported Cotton’s claim. The alleged witness, a 45-year-old man from Dixwell Avenue, said there were some words exchanged between Kimber and Cotton before the reverend grabbed Cotton around the neck.
The witness told police he couldn’t hear what was said but indicated he was shocked and surprised by Kimber’s conduct, according to the report.
Contacted Monday, Kimber declined comment about the incident. A message was left for Cotton, who had filed paperwork to run for the Board of Alderman before withdrawing as a candidate.
No one answered the phone number listed for the alleged witness. There was no answering machine.
In the beginning, Cotton said he wanted Kimber arrested, but later told police he didn’t want to pursue the matter.
Kimber, the pastor at the First Cavalry Baptist Church, has been a political lightning rod in the city for decades. Last year, he made headlines when he stepped down as the chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners after making a comment some Italian-Americans on the fire department found offensive. Kimber said the remark, a reference to recruits with too many vowels in their names, was meant as a joke. After political fallout, he stepped down as chairman but remains on the board.
It seems that the good reverend has some sort of fixation with necks! ("...thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies..." Gen. 49:8)
