Edited on 11/15/2004 11:12:31 PM PST by Admin Moderator. [history]

I am being sued for something that happened at the December 2000 Freep of Joe Lieberman.

JimRob has allowed me to hold an internet fundraiser to help defray the costs of my lawyers fees.

I am broke and thousands of dollars in debt, and depending on how much I can collect here, I amnot sure if I can continue or work to sign a mutual release if offered.

Right now, we have ended the discovery phase, and are awaiting the deposition of the man who accused me of assaulting him that day.

That charge is a lie.

The following story below is my short account of what happened that day.

I'm disabled and ain't got a pot to piss in . . . but the good Lord provided the outdoors for situations like this. The pot can wait.

$100 is coming your way.

The greatest part about being a conservative is we don't think Uncle Sam should addict folks to handouts . . . and conservatives don't need governmental help for long BECAUSE we take care of our own!!

I don't know you. I've never met you. I've never read one of your posts. But you're a veteran FReeper in need and, like our beloved Marines, we don't leave a wounded FReeper behind. I know that sounds sanctimonious but I mean it. Free Republic has given this disabled old War Horse a way I can still help. If Jim Robinson approves, that's all I need to know about you.

More importantly than the money, Race, you'll be in my prayers.

I see that somebody wants to play games. Well, I do not wish to play.

OK JLO, this is how it is going to work. You pinged me in Posts 422, 459, 518, 711, and 723 in this thread with some nonsense. I have no earthly idea what you are talking about, I have never corresponded with you on FR that I am aware of, and my only reply to you has been "huh" or words to that effect.

You will now stop pinging me on thread and in Freepmail - I want no communication of any kind with you in this forum, and I have no time for games. Got it? Good.

Here's the dear reverend's ideas on guns:

New Haven Register

NEW HAVEN — The Rev. Mary Walton's heart is in the Dwight neighborhood — her home during the height of the gun violence of the early 1990s.

"These children are near and dear to me," said Walton, who now lives in West Haven. "I know that they're basically good kids but they're in the wrong direction. It's up to us to steer them right." Walton, of Holy Nation Church, and 75 others took to the streets Thursday evening to combat street violence through the power of prayer.

The New Haven Clergy Association and the Christian Community Commission organized the march in response to a shooting last week that left one person dead and five people wounded, including a 16-year-old girl.

(snip)

The Rev. Boise Kimber of First Calvary Baptist Church, one of the organizers, had harsh words for the parents of the shooters — telling them it is too late to seek solace from the clergy.

"If your child shoots and kills someone, you are on your own," he said. He said the law should be changed to hold parents responsible for their children's' actions.

"If your child has a gun and he shoots someone, you ought to be accountable," he said. "That means you ought to go to jail, too." One Dwight resident, who would not give her name, said she watched the neighborhood improve in recent years but said Saturday's shooting left neighbors and their children badly shaken.

"I was just speaking Friday of how the neighborhood had changed and then we have all this gunfire," she said. "The kids are just afraid now. A lot of the kids won't even come down here to the store, and that shouldn't be."

I hope that was not caused by someone's zeal to help me, the last thing I want to do is create animosity by asking for help.

Please allow me to apologize for what is happening! :(

If you ever have troubles, I guess we can blame it on the trashing of Luther.

Nah, I'm guilty of far "worse" things than that ;-)

Prayers are more important than money, I might get enough to pay the bills, but I will still be a miserable sinner saved by Grace! :)

I am also very leery about using PayPal in any form. I posted my experiences with them earlier in this thread, and many of my friends in another forum have also cautioned me not to use them due to security problems (rumors about account holder's data not being protected, hackers penetrating PayPal's database, etc.). I have reverted to sending money orders for stuff I order on the Internet unless it is a trusted merchant like Amazon. I also have a protection scheme for my credit card through Visa and my bank.

Are you having trouble with the judge in the case? Seems like you could just show this picture and submit a motion to dismiss, and that would be that.

Judge saw the picture, the article from the local paper stating that there was no trouble until Kimber jumped on my truck...wrung his hands and said...Oh, This is going to be Goooooood!!!

Then he tossed out our summary judgement request.

I have moved in the last few months and I tried to get on Paypal and change my info...bank account, addy, etc. Virtually IMPOSSIBLE. I just gave up. Probably a good thing. Money orders and checks will have to do.

To: SAJ; tax
Incorrect. In the Oprah Car Case, tax was NOT levied on the gift of the car, but rather at the level of the in-lieu-of sales tax amount.

The article from the CPA website doesn't support your claim. From the article: The $28,500 would need to be claimed as income so, depending on the individuals tax bracket, the tax could be as high as $7,000. And that was after Pontiac agreed to pay most of the local charges, including state sales tax and licensing fees.

I'm sorry that some other Freepers can't bring themselves to feel likewise due to past disagreements.

Me too. And your expository skills are nothing to sneeze at either, FRiend. Well said.
