Aspects of the Geneva Conventions apply even when dealing with non-signatories.

It is important to keep in perspective that there have been other incidents in Fallujah in recent days where terrorists have faked injuries and then attacked coalition soldiers.

I don't need to see the video. I have complete faith in the fact that this young Marine did his job, and did it well. The left is trying to destroy the military and I am not going to play into their traitor hands.

I agree.

America's BM (big media) has aligned itself with al Jazerra. Disgusting but predictable after their whoring for ol Feckless.

If this enemy followed ANY aspect of the Geneva Conventions, I'd perhaps be more inclined to give your position some consideration. As it stands, I'm inclined to buy that marine a beer......

In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.

John McRae

Judging by the video (appearances could be deceiving), there's no evidence to suggest he wasn't secure. It almost sounded like the other soldier shouted "Wait!" when the marine fired. This may just be a case of someone who was suffering post-traumatic stress (after being shot and wounded himself) and couldn't exercise clear judgment.

Anyway, it's hell to be in these guys' shoes.

I think the marine was wrong.

The guy wasn't faking - he really was dead - already.

Time to move on.

First off, i say too bad a camera person was on the scene to begin with, second, i have a son in the service that has done a tour of Bagdad and is still overseas that is weekly attending several services for fellow personel that are losing their lives everyday over there. Maybe it should have been handled better and next time it will, but given what they are going thru everyday i would be jumpy too. My son said you can trust no one!Man,Woman or child!

Thanks for the link. Probably saw the same video on television overnight.

You know one point that has not been made is that the Marine just thinks the man is faining death when he shoots. We have no objective proof that the terrorist was actually alive or dead. For all that the "evidence" shows, the Marine may have been imagining things and really shot an already dead body. Plugging a suspect dead body (or, on a larger scale, a suspect vehicle) "Just to be sure" is a fairly common battlefield practice. Afterward, unless you examine the body in detail to determine if the terrorist was alive or dead, what is the basis of the claim?

Is it possible there is a Heisenberg's terrorist in the mosque corollary (sp) to Heisenberg's cat in the box paradox?

Shoot...I can't remember exactly now, but he reminded the viewers that we're dealing with animals who booby-trap their dead, kill us from under a surrender flag, and dismember and disembowel Western women.
