Agreed. It is absolutely basic.
And I think it's correct to call it a moral understanding. It's certainly the primary reason why I voted for him, and why he did so well among Evangelicals, loyal Catholics, religious Jews, family oriented Hispanics, and millions of others who voted for him this time.
