The men begin parking along the quiet residential street in Redford around 9 on Saturday nights — and the last leave around 6 Sunday mornings. In the intervening hours, some 40 to 85 men pay $12 to engage in orgy-style sex in the basement and ground-floor rooms of the ranch-style home. There are few rules. "Don’t ask, don’t tell" is the typical approach to the question of HIV status. And condoms are rarely used.

I don't think 85 people are allowed to gather at one home in one evening for even a Bible Study/Church meeting. How are this many men and cars coming into one home and no one is contacting the police. Drugs, Prostitution are all going on here. Then they are intentionally picking up aids, leaving employment and living off disability, hmm.

There's so much wrong here that reams could be written.

Prostitution, drug use, too many people, probably underage youths (very likely, anyway), maybe child porn...

The Supreme Court did a horrible thing with the Texas vs. Lawrence pro-sodomy decision. Sodomy especially same sex has been illegal since the dawn of civilization with good reason.

Yep, and we all know that disability leave for AIDS is a fair and equitable entitlement, especially for all us poor idiots that still have to work, and have to pick up the slack for these people. </sarcasm>

And beyond complacency, there seems to be backlash against the safe sex campaigns that have been aimed at the gay community for years. The old campaigns seem to be "stuck in the 1980s," Halkitis says...

Yeah, personal responsibility, morality, and common decency are just so 80's. </sarcasm>

Jeff Montgomery, executive director of the Triangle Foundation, a gay advocacy organization in Detroit, says that some men turn to barebacking parties to get away from the safe-sex message they get at bathhouses. "It was like going to school to get educated on sex," he says, describing the way some gay men perceive the bathhouses.

Still, Montgomery says, the only way to deal with barebacking is to educate gay men about safe sex and the dangers of unsafe sex.

This is what really ticks me off the most about this whole thing. The mantra since the discovery of AIDS has been "Education, Education, Education", as the solution to everything. Yet the preceding paragraph clearly states that all these gay men are fully educated and aware of all the implications, but they just don't care. Their raw, uncontrolled hedonism has poisoned their hearts so much that they'd rather party like a porn star and live on the labors and hard work of other members of society while they slowly decline into a drug-hazed abyss of "Look At Me, I'm a Martyr For My Cause" death.
