KERRY FIT TO SUE 'UNFIT' AUTHOR

November 18, 2004 -- LIBERAL loser John Kerry might be planning to strike back at John O'Neill, the "Unfit for Command" author who claims some of the credit for Kerry's defeat, sources say.

In the book, published by Regnery not long before the election, O'Neill — who, like Kerry, commanded swift boats in Vietnam — attacked Kerry's war record and branded him a traitor.

O'Neill sold over 800,000 copies and his group, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, raised $25 million to battle the Kerry campaign and ran TV ads trashing the candidate. Former Sen. Bob Dole endorsed the group.

O'Neill says he wrote the book because Kerry called his fellow Vietnam vets monsters, terrorists and war criminals, for which he has never apologized.

The Post is having fun; John Kerry won't sue John O'Neil because the trial discovery process will force sworn testimony on Kerry's record, and then it will seek his records.

John Kerry is going to TALK about suing for the next 4 years. He won't ever do it and try and save face by saying he doesn't want lower himself to that level, yet all the while actually lowering himself well below any level yet thought possible.

Well if he says he wants to sue, not to worry. Tomorrow he will say he doesn't want to sue.

Kerry's threat to sue is hollow.

Kerry cannot sue for libel without opening his military records. That is something he won't do.

Kerry's purpose in being a presidential candidate was to collect a wad of contributions, not actually to win. That is why he cancelled advertising near the end, and still holds $15M of donations in cash.

Kerry's motto, effectively, is: "It's all about me."

Sign me on board, I want that scum Kerry in a cell at Leavenworth.

Not quite yet...unfortunately.

Let him press this idiotic lawsuit and he'll be lucky to BE a footnote -- more likely, he'll end up in every law school textbook as an example of specific incompetence at the law, and one of the most gigantic screwups in its practice.

And, discovery during such a suit -- if I'm not mistaken -- will reveal both the contents of his DD-SF180 AND the subsequent, curiously convenient, revisions of the exact status of his discharge.

Bring it on, Botox Boy.

Now, "the Kerry camp is thinking about filing a libel lawsuit against Regnery and O'Neill," a source close to the candidate's inner circle tells PAGE SIX. "I don't know if they will actually go forward, but consideration is serious. If Kerry plans on running again in 2008 — and I'm hearing he will — it would make sense that he'd file the suit."

Kerry's rep, David Wade, said he hadn't heard about any proposed lawsuit, but promised to look into it.

"It would be a lot smarter of Kerry to just apologize," O'Neill told PAGE SIX. "No lawsuits are going to change the testimony he gave and the impact it had on POWs."

O'Neill, who is now a lawyer in Houston, says he has not heard from the Kerry camp, but will defend himself against any legal action. O'Neill, who charged that Kerry faked his wounds and won his medals under false pretenses, says he won't write another book if Kerry runs in 2008, but will definitely campaign against him again.

"He's all talk, and even that's cowardly."

I quite agree. He did nothing for twenty years in the Senate. I doubt we'll hear much more from JFnK after these post-election echoes finally die down. He'll go back to playing at "being" senator, and windsurfing, and wasting Tay-rayza's money, and that's about it. I think Kerry got his bellyful of actually fighting the last six months. He's done.

"O'Neill will almost certainly not settle, and a trial will force Kerry to answer many crucial questions he dodged during the campaign."

It would be soooo great for it to become public knowledge the dreadful mistake the MSM tried to mislead the nation into making. It would furhter alienate the MSM from the public as a source of honest reporting, particularly with regard to their political bias.

Lurch never gives up with his anti-free speech agenda. Where's the ACLU. The a@#hole already is living it up on the various John Heinz estates and bank account, but I guess he wants to sue to get some more spending money.

I truly contend that Kerry believes he is a war hero. He has played the part for so long I think he's blurred the line of reality.

One of FreeRepublic's own is also being sued, in a politically-motivated set-up. Please click the link and help if you can.

O'Neill should sue Kerry, that way it would all come out in court. Would be the trial of the new century.

he thought of suing before he thought of not suing and that was some time before the Post decided to fill up some blank space with this worthless speculation.

sue O'neill and kerry will finally be put on trial and he knows it even if the Post doesn't

furthermore, every conservative with a dollar will contribute to the O'neill attorney fees and that should be about 60 million

Bring it on.

Good. Let Kerry release ALL his records and let's see who is telling the truth.

If Kerry sues O'Neill, I think O'Neill could subpoena and releas Kerry's military records.

That would just be lovely!

My point is that John Kerry's best hope at this point is to cloak himself in a merciful, Dukakis-like obscurity, and hope people forget about him.

History will not be kind to clowns like Jimmy Carter and Al Gore; defeated fools who should take whatever goodwill society still harbors for them, and escape with some dignity intact. Instead, they seek small, petty aims that will leave them small, petty legacies.

John Kerry's last hope for an honorable mention in history passed over two weeks ago. If he can't accept his defeat with grace, he'll spend the rest of his life dismantling what little reputation he has left.
