In supporting Specter my Republican Judiciary Committee member has unquestionably gone against the overwhelming majority of his constituents.

Am I wrong to at least expect him to give us an explanation and some degree of personal assurance that he will assume responsibility if Specter fails to get our nominees confirmed?

Nope, he should justify his position and take responsibility for it. You should call his office and ask the Senator to publicly explain his position so he is on record. Tell them you are disappointed with his decision, but be polite and ask for a public explaination.

I agree with your assessment. Now, if only conservatives would coalesce around candidates the same way, it would have a similar impact. This will become extremely important when the globalists try to impose Rudy or McCain on us when Hillary runs in '08.

I am very concerned with the way McCain and Hillary are positioning themselves, it could very well come down to a race between those two phonies. I would take Rudy over McCain, just because I think Rudy is genuine and McCain is unstable eventhough McCain has a more conservative background. As of now, 2008 does not look good for getting a conservative into the White House. Can we somehow reincarnate Dan Quayle from his political death?

I will vote third party before I will vote for a liberal like Rudy for president.

I think we scared the you know what out of Specter. He won't be putting up much resistance to conservative appointments now. If he wants to keep his seat next election, he will support the President.

Specter will be somewhat a good soldier for the next couple of years. But Specter is getting old and I don't think he is too concerned with next election. The biggest problem with letting Specter be chairmen, will be in years 2-4. This fiasco will be forgotten and Specter will be himself agian.

Don't worry, soon we will be worried about real issues and real appointments. That is when the real fun will begin.

I really hope your correct, but Chambliss has lost any future vote from me in any case. I'll not vote for Frist either.

You don't vote in two different states, do you, as in "I voted in Georgia before I voted in Tennessee"? :-) I assume you mean that if you happen to live in either of those states when either of them are running...they won't get your vote.

Why keep Specter? Because getting rid of him also might have consequences. Just because we've got a majority...doesn't mean we've got a majority.

Specter is a particularly vain and preening little strut of a Senate rooster. Outrage his ego by denying him a traditional perk, and he might be able to do more damage off the chair than on it.

Politics is generally just surviving the lesser of two evils. Conservatives, and I am one, don't believe in perfectability, just endurability.

Thanks for these threads every day.

Confused Conservatives: Hugh Hewitt

I still wish you'd not refer to Hewitt as a conservative, as he is not.

I really don't know Hewitt that well. I know some people call O'Reilly a conservative, so I know the label is thrown around loosely. I do know that he was confused on this subject. We may have come up short on this fight, but we did good. We damaged Specter some, we got the attention of every GOP Senator, and important issues were brought to the front burner. Overall, the effect of the campaign was positive although not as positive as it could have been.

"If Frist and Santorum mess this up, they deserved to be shot and killed on the spot."

I know this is written in mere jest, but could we refraim from using such harsh language. It really is uncalled for!!

WE are champions for LIFE and the above statement, even in mere jest, serves no purpose.

Thanks!

THANKS FOR YOUR HARD WORK - this fight will not go unnoticed!

What do you think of Bush appointing Pat Toomey to the OMB?

Hopefully the conservatives in PA have been heard!
