Sure they know. And it might explain their interest in bombs at the moment, unfortunately.

It pays to have open eyes. There's little America can't do, if it has the will. But, Iran is a lot bigger than Iraq and Afghanistan put together, and has well over their combined populations.

This is no reason to rule out an option, but the 150,000 or so brave men/women in Iraq, plus the X thousand equally brave soldiers in Afghanistan, would need very substantial reinforcement if anyone is seriously thinking of invasion (which I don't think they are).

Any Ballistic Missile that lifts off from Iran will fall back on Iran when USN in the Persian Gulf is alerted by NORAD.
