Indiana's Ron Artest and Stephen Jackson charged into the stands and fought with fans

LIFETIME BAN FROM THE NBA

(fortunately the NBA wont last more than another few years anyway)

20,000 > 5 It might be a good idea to leave.

And when the players did try to leave, they were belted with even more drinks and food for their trouble. Disgraceful.

Well, I appreciate the effort you made, but it's kinda wasted on me - a guy who'd rather watch an unplugged TV than one with sports on it.

It's boring to watch morons push balls around. Sorry.

What is this NBA that you refer to? Is that the same group who had that Spreewell fella choking someone? Is it some sort of legal defense group?

Inebriated Rich Obese Suburbanites hit the Palace of Auburn Hills or Joe Louis Arena, they've never picked up a basketball in their life and their out their heckling, jeering "Thugball" and sometimes, when it comes to tossing beer at players they go to far and the players are forced to defend themselves.

"...the players are forced to defend themselves."

Hitting people at random is not defending yourself. It's criminal charges and lawsuit time.

From a song by a stand-up guy: I love the Detroit Pistons of basketball. They have so many souveniers I collect them all...
I have Piston shirts!
I have Piston shorts!
I have Piston ashtrays!
I have Piston beer mugs and sometimes people don't even notice!...

sorry to detract from serious conversation but I didn't think I'd ever come across another Piston thread.

[)---how would you react?]

Like a professional and left the arena.

I guess everyone's biggest mistake is thinking all these black NBA players are role models. They're not. They're too busy getting tattooed from head to foot and mouthing off at their fellow players and coaches. If one isn't getting busted for pot, some other is being charged for manslaughter, drunk driving, drug possession, or rape. One of the plain and simple reasons why I stopped watching NBA basketball. BTW, isn't Artest the one who wanted to take a month off from the NBA season to promote his "rap" album? I think he is going to get his wish.

[Inebriated Rich Obese Suburbanites hit the Palace of Auburn Hills]

Excuse me...but you need to see the video....the fans involved were NOT what you described.

We saw the older woman laying on her back between the seats, while the players proceeded to run through the audience punching people. It's a mad house.

These people have turned this game into a nightmare.

Keep your families away.

beer bottles thrown at you.

There was no beer bottles involved. It was a little lightweight, plactic party cup.

The players acted like criminal thugs. The people injured, the innocent that were punched and attacked, including the woman laying on her back on the floor are going to sue everyone affiliated with this stadium, and this sport. This is going to hurt this sport real bad.

Go ahead and defend the thugocracy that is today's NBA. Why don't you just accuse of all of "playa hatin" while you're at it.

"I ain't no role model" - Charles Barkley

Forgotten by many is the rest of the quote, which I will paraphrase:

'It's your Mom or Dad, who goes to work everyday to make sure you have what you need. Those are your role models.'

That elderly woman you're talking about was trampled by her fellow Piston fans. The fans did throw a bottle---one of them cut a ref's head open. The majority of those players up in the stands--sans Stephen Jackson---were actually trying to separate people and keep the peace. One of them--Freddie Jones---was attacked and sucker-punched from behind by an obese Piston fan. There's no excuse for the fan's behavior---at least I can understand---while not agreeing with it---why Artest bolted into the stands.

You know- the kid Artest went after was interviewed on the radio--he said Artest didn't punch him---he said Artest grabbed him, held him to the ground and asked him if he was the one who threw it.

I recorded it from ESPN; I've been to games, hockey in fact, and some fans were taunting the goalie all night long; one man in the crowd asked them to clean up their language because he was with a woman.

I watch the video and there certainly is a provocation happening on behalf of the fans.

I guess the ESPN panel is defending Thugocracy too. They are coming out more on the players side.

How about one at work, these players are.

Fans provoking players? Wow, what a novel concept. I guess millionaire professionals cannot be expected to control themselves. As far as ESPN jocksniffing as usual, what did you expect?
