Russia has been actively playing a game since the "fall" of the USSR.

Is it any wonder why President Bush chose Condi Rice whose background as a Sovietologist and Russia expert is needed right now?

Another option:

China, Sasol in Talks to Build 4 or 5 'Secundas'
¡¡¡¡The world's largest synthetic fuel producer Sasol of South Africa is planning to build two large plants in China to feed the country's fast-growing demand for fuel.

¡¡¡¡The two projects, in northwest China's Ningxia and Shaanxi, are expected to cost about 3 billion US dollars each and will have a combined annual production of 60-million tons of oil.

¡¡¡¡A letter of intent between South Africa's largest industrial company and a consortium of six Chinese companies was signed Wednesday in Pretoria, during the visit to South Africa by China's vice president Zeng Qinghong.

¡¡¡¡A Sasol executive said the company is talking over four or five Secundas, which are Sasol's flagship plants in South Africa with a productivity of 150,000 barrels of oil a day. (CRI)(07/01/2004)

I believe the oil pipeline deal is undecided because of a better offer made by Japan. I think it will be decided by the end of the year.

"With this treaty it would appear, for example, that any military move by China against Taiwan would now be backed up by the enormous nuclear arsenal of the former Soviet Union," Inhofe tells Insight.

Perhaps this is why Colin Powell made those statements about Taiwan belonging to China recently?

Maybe this is why Powell made those statements last week reducing support for Taiwan.

We know this for sure, Chirac and Schroeder went to China and repeatedly assured China that they would not stand in China's way if China asserted control over Taiwan - that was shown on both German and French TV.

Putin denies he did but who is he trying to kid?

France, Germany, Russia and China treated Iraq like boys would treat the slut down the street and took advantage of Iraq directly and through the oil for food scandal.

They are now playing the same game with Iran and hope to quell world concern over nuclear development by agreeing to a largely useless treaty that is unenforceable. It was Russia who sold the nuclear facility to Iran.

Those four countries have absolutely no moral values and are only interested in exploiting every country and their people at every opportunity.

It appears that only two significant countries - America and Great Britain - stand for any meaningful good or moral values.

Faced with the obvious mercenary intent of the four countries - it sure seems to me that the world is becoming extremely volitile. What are our options?

the way to break China is economically, and the time to do it is now, before they take more key industries from us like semiconductors.

These types of articles are nothing short of hysterical. Let's all learn this fact and remember it well. Historian Paul Johnson has pointed out that the US spends more in one year on defense than the next fourteen countries COMBINED. This includes countries like Russia and China. And the percentage that the US spends annually is GROWING. And the US has been actively AT WAR for four years, which accelerates operational and technological developments. Not to mention that our units have gained ACTUAL COMBAT EXPERIENCE. The United States has evolved into the greatest military power on earth; in fact, there is no historical precedent for the overwhelming dominance that the US brings to bear to world affairs, economic or military.

What does this mean? The type of "analysis" represented in articles like this have no more insight into our current situation or future position than the blathering of the old sailors who argued for building more wooden sailing ships to protect against steam-powered ironclads. These people are the last gasping voices of a dead era. Forget this kind of nonsense. We are living in a new age of global American hegemony! We are the new Rome! Every other country is nothing more than a province, including Russia and China.

Well, China has $515 Billion USD that she needs to dump someplace. Maybe Putin's willing to take them for a nice little arsenal.

But hey--China is our FRIEND. China makes cheap stuff JUST for OUR benefit.

That way we can spend more on Viagra...

Waldron believes, as do some analysts within the Bush administration, that it is in the interests of the United States to split Russia and China apart. "We should do this not by making concessions," Waldron says, "but by showing them we will penalize them for this sort of cooperation."

So Mr. Walton wants to split Russia and China by using stick but no carrot policy. And how this split is to look like? That Russians and Chines after being hit with the stick hard enough will attack one another?

Very interesting strategy.

First of all, this article contains pretty pathetic & glaring misinformation.China does'nt operate Mig-29s(the article rates the number at 100s) as it is buying Su-27s & Su-30s & building it's own J-10 fighters, all of which are in the same league as the Mig.Moreover only a fraction of China's airforce-to be more precise ,it's SU-30s operate the AA-12(R-77) Adder missile, which is the Russian analogue to the AMRAAM.Russia is only building 4 Sovremmeny class destroyers(some sites put the number at only 2) for the Chinese & not six & the 6 Kilo-636 class subs have not been delivered to the PLAN-as far as I know, only 1 has been delivered. The Russians reportedly refused to sell Akula class nuke-boats to China & offered to lease some nuclear tech for China to build it's own boats.2 Akula class boats are being built in Russia......but they are for the Indian navy & India has always recieved more high tech equipment more easily from the Russians than China.

TTS,While I have no problem on what viewpoint you take, most of the articles you post here are full of holes & are written by persons/or from journals of plummeting credibility & after a period of time, become frankly boring.

A Russia/China Axis would only work if Russia supports Chinese hegemony in East Asia at the expense of Korea and Japan. If they did they might as well scede East Siberia to the chicoms and defend themselves in the Urals.

China must be unaware of TARIFFS...
Somebody at Wal-Mart oughta inform them...
A 25 percent tariff on everything produced in China could cure the deficit.. and send a message too.. Canada should not be the ONLY unfavored nation.. URP should be whisling pass the unemployment office too.. and YEAH Russia..

The Clintoon deal with China should be reviewed..
