Last night's article:

Bush comes to aid of Secret Service agent --  I just saw a clip of this on Fox News. It was awesome.

" Bush walked over to the agents, reached through the dispute and pulled his agent from the scrum."
This is my favorite part. He left the President of Chile to go help his Secret Service agent. That's a real man for you.

I had heard about how the Bush's befriended their secret service people, but this is the first time I've seen it on film.

That wasn't friendship, IMO. That was loyalty.

Take a moment and think what a president sKerry would have done when faced with this scene.
If the past is a harbinger of future actions, sKerry would have turned tail and let the SS Agent fend for himself.

With Ter-reez-zah screaming "Fascist!" at the SS Agent.

I remember reading that Hillary directed that all SS personnel and White House guards were to not look at them when they were walking by, and that Chelsea once had called them "trained pigs."

As a veteram of several overseas Presidential visits, I know that every event a President attends is meticulously coordinated with the host country security services. This includes precisely who is allowed into secure areas where the President is. It's impossible to believe that the White House advance people and Secret Service did not agree with the Chilean authorities on which SS agents would be allowed into the event with the President. So the question in my mind is: what the heck happened? It's conceivable that some persons on the US side "violated" the agreement in some way and the Chileans were retaliating by denying access to SS agents. But I doubt it. In my experience, the US side has generally followed whatever agreed arrangements there were. I'd really like to know more about this; my guess is that several senior heads in the Chilean government are going to roll.

Thanks for posting this.

Something is way wrong with this situation. All the details on these events are worked out way ahead, everybody knows what everybody is supposed to do. And I don't believe for one second on this planet that the Secret Service would agree ahead of time that the President and First Lady would not have an agent immediately at hand. I don't know what stunt the Chilean guards were trying to pull but I'm real glad President Bush didn't put up with this nonsense.

clinton would have been hitting on the Chilean first lady, no doubt.

As well as taking bets on who would win the fight.

I am very glad that the Chileans didn't take any chances with the possibility of a fraudulent ID. The agent looks a little bit middle eastern to me.

This is a very frightening scene. Imagine if another countries secret service conspired to assassinate our president. This would likely be the begining sequence to that plot.

Didn't the clintons have the SS agents carry their luggage, too? ...or was that the Marines?

Why do you suppose the agent has his right arm around the neck of the Chilean guy?

Yeah, I'm thinking there was an Infantry Platoon's worth of weapons in that gaggle of security.

This situation tells me that detail leader of the SS team didn't do the proper pre-trip coordination.
