Sorry to disagree, but when we're at sea chipping paint, including periods when the damned ship had just been thoroughly overhauled and retrofitted, it becomes thoroughly embedded upon one's soul that ships always require maintenance to stay afloat.
She is still an active commissioned US warship regardless of her physical condition. As such, she is ours. We should have fought to retrieve her when she was illegally seized. We should have retaken her when she was moved through international waters in recent years. Allowing a US warship to remain in the hands of pirates was and is a dishonor.
I look forward to the day when this "tub" reenters a US port with her ensign flying. I hope she outlasts the pirate regime that holds her captive.
