The C-172 I'm renting out of AVL these days has Bendix/King KAP-140 in the panel, but I haven't learned how to use it to fly an ILS approach yet.

Is 1000 fpm about right for the approach speed of a Gulfstream?

My Gulfstream experience is in the G-1 and have loads of time in Beech 1900's, Dash-8's and a good amount in the BAe-146. 1000' fpm sounds a little high but I'm not sure for a G-2 thru G-5.

That would be on the heavy side, but not uncommon
They could have been carrying extra turbosina for the next leg.
