Back to basics-Lessons to learn from Amber, Scott, Adam, Eve, and the Palestinians.

"Sometimes seemingly uninvolved stories are intertwined. Amber. Scott. Adam. Eve. Israel. PLO," I told an editor wondering why I sent him, for his multicultural readership, the Amber Fry/Scott Peterson piece I wrote, after Scott was convicted of murder, "Biblical allegory," I said. "Life lessons from sweetheart deals."

Looking across my room at the political cartoon featuring Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden that I bought at a National Press Club fundraiser benefiting young journalists, the answer was obvious to me. Adam. Eve. Apple. Eden. Scott. Amber. Modesto. Strawberries. Israel. The PLO. Wasteland in the center of an oasis of milk and honey.

"... Despite nagging rumors that morality has matured since the beginning of time, few, I guess, have noticed that monkeys are still walking the earth ..."

Fascinated with the time old tale of Eden, since my days as an illustrator, I read the bubbled words in my newly acquired Oakland Press political cartoon of Adam watching God creating Eve, "How do I know he doesn't intend her to grow up Palestinian," was mine the minute I laid eyes upon it, a reminder of how destiny, with people we meet in our life journey, is not in our control. I was at a loss to understand why the editor could not see that for himself. Despite nagging rumors that morality has matured since the beginning of time along with people espousing that man has evolved through the years, few, I guess, have noticed that monkeys are still walking the earth. Moreso, even though, after the too often boy gets girl, girl gets guy, married men and women still reach for forbidden fruit. And people still want to believe, as veritas, the rhetoric their politicians tell them.

The dalliance of Scott Peterson with women other than his wife is a vignette sharing lessons learned from Eden, Israel, Modesto, of girl "gets" guy. Eve, of her own free will, ate the apple that the snake offered her. Adam, knowing the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge was forbidden, chose to share her apple. Scott, knowing Amber was temptation, broke his wedding vow to his wife when he interacted with the masseuse. His third extra-marital affair. He knew what Amber was -- a single woman with a child of wedlock, eager for more kids out of wedlock. Amber chose to be intimate with Scott the night they met, deciding to believe the things would be different this time. As does Israel choose to believe, with Arafat gone, that the Middle East situation might improve. This, despite a continuing demonstration by Arafat's followers loss of life, if it helps them meet their goals, is a means to an end.

In the rabbinical world of parables, the story of the cat, the rabbis and the mouse explains this lesson best. Once a cat, always a cat -- especially when a mouse crosses its path. A masseuse-turned-star witness will always be a " masseuse." A philandering husband stands a good chance of repeating his philandering. And Palestinians appear they will continue to believe that "getting Israel" by murdering Israelis brings rewards according to the way Arafat taught them calling for blood over land.

Amber is a good vignette in helping people understand the PLO's transformation from terrorists to statesmen, accepted on the world stage of politics. Initially mousey, "simple," opportunists made her viewer-friendly once she was in the public eye. Dramatically coifed hair, designer clothing, enhanced chest line, along with continuous reformatting for media exposure keeps the "victimized" a darling for media-ops.

So what will be now?

A mentor of mine, a former NYC cop, taught me, "If you have to ask the question you already know the answer." Until we acknowledge the connective thread between Adam, Eve, Amber, Scott, the PLO and Israel, newspaper headlines will continue to forecast a future that Jews want to ignore: SS logo clothes sold to German stores, Romanian Holocaust report released 60 years past the event, anti-Semitic graffiti on a Salem synagogue, China's largest synagogue on fire, Dublin Jewish museum vandalized and neo-Nazi violence feared at a rally for German troops killed in 1945.

Maybe the editor will now understand, in my simplified way of seeing things, an editorial on Amber Frey and Scott Peterson was all about getting adults back to the basics of understanding the allegorical repercussions of letting the chips "fall where they may," in sweetheart deals.

The story of Amber/Scott continues to be relevant because "everything old is new again."

Well well, now careful children read closely and think about what you are being told about that supposed 'apple'!

How infrequently does mankind forget that life is as simple and complicated as this. The format for life was set forth in the first two chapters of the Bible. God said, "Don't".

Not merely monkeys, who are amoral, but genuine evil walks the earth too - as nearby as Plano, Texas, yesterday.

The media has managed to turn Amber Frey, a whore, into a media darling?? Who would have guessed it. I should really tune in more often to watch this garbage so I can let the devil twist my mind into knots of moral confusion.

I guess next week we'll see if the world's most famous fertilizer salesman will follow Arafat.
