Patriotic Great-Grandma Volunteers For Iraq Duty Oklahoma Woman, 72, To Be Deployed To War Zone
POSTED: 7:16 am EST November 22, 2004
LAWTON, Okla. -- A 72-year-old great-grandmother from Oklahoma is preparing for deployment to the war zone in Iraq.
Lena Haddix will be a civilian employee of the Department of Defense and volunteered for the duty. She said she wanted to do something for her country.
Haddix was a military wife and has worked at the Fort Sill PX since 1977. She's expected to have a similar job in Iraq, working 10 hours a day.
Her preparation for deployment is similar to a soldier's, including shots and a medical checkup to make sure she's physically able to do a tour of at least six months.
Haddix will go to Fort Bliss, Texas, for a week of training, then to Germany where she'll get her assignment.

It's nice to have Rosie the Riveter still around. More power to her.
God bless her and keep her safe. Having a tough grandma on your side works wonders for morale.
bless her heart
I saw this story on the news last night and thought it kind of funny. I work for the Army Corps of Engineers and know several "grandmothers" from the Mississippi Valley Division and Corps of Engineers Research and Development have taken duty in Iraq. They've been going since the fall of Baghdad.
France, Terrorists, liberals, etc. take notice. This is what a real American patriot is made of. God bless her and keep her safe and from all of us here, THANK YOU.

Unfortunately, she will become fodder for the liberal media in their desire to maintain the status quo for the mentally dysfunctional affected with "Bush Derangement Syndrome"
well, God has truly blessed America with a woman like this, those animals in Iraq dont have a chance with Grandma Apple Pie with an M16
USA!!!!!!!!!!!
