That's it all right.
That is not the reflection of the sun, though, it is the meteorite just before hitting the surface.
Sun reflections on the sea are always symetrical, at the center of the bright "splotch".

Al Quaida alert?? Maybe Bin Laden is bombing us from space! This wharf is perhaps 400metres from the Navy Patrol Boat base and Army base Larrakeyah (bombed by Jap Zeros WW2 -only place bombed in Australia in WW2).

I recall hearing of some monk a long time ago seeing the impact that cause one of the more visible ejecta highlighted craters on the moon. Tycho Brah (the name of the crater, not the monk) maybe?
To: Tealc
Fortunately, SG-1 was able to open a brief hyperspace window mere moments before the naquadah meteroite impacted on the surface.

Is it just me, or is there a theme emerging here...?
(Reminds me of the time my high school chemistry teacher went around wearing his lab coat all day. He had spilled ink on his pants and tried to get the stain out with some acid. I overheard him telling the biology teacher about it.)

Um.... no.
Unless there's a really clever Mae West reference there that I'm unaware of. Then of course it is.
Seriously, the only Mae West reference I know of would be the "come up and see me sometime."
