Second Iraqi cleric assassinated
Tuesday 23 November 2004, 13:31 Makka Time, 10:31 GMT
The AMS and other bodies have called for a poll boycott.
A group of armed men have killed a Muslim cleric in the town of Miqdadiya, the second assassination of an Association of Muslim Scholars' member in Iraq in two days, witnesses and hospital officials say.
It is not clear whether Shaikh Ghalib al-Zuhair's killing has any connection with the death of Shaikh Faidh Muhammad Amin al-Faidhi, brother of the association's official spokesman.
Shaikh Faidh was killed in a drive-by shooting in the northern city of Mosul on Monday.
Miqdadiya lies 100km north-east of Baghdad, close to the provincial capital of Baquba.
The AMS, an influential Iraqi Muslim body, says its members have been targeted by US and interim Iraqi security forces as well as groups trying to fuel sectarian unrest.
What was the motive? What exactly does this association stand for?
Things that make you go "Hmmm..."
Hmmmmmm...and Hmmmmmmm...and Hurray...and Amen
Good riddance to bad trash. I call this not an assasination, but pest control.

I have always thought that a good way to get the Islamofascists to tone down would be to start assasinating clerics. Then watch them tone down their hateful rhetoric and attempt to reign in the islamokazi's and 'insurgents'. It is very possible, the best way to kill a snake is to cut it's effin head off.
Looks like islamofascists aren't the only ones with ski masks. This just might work.
It is just a coincidence!
But the month isn't over yet.
Meanwhile, Al Jazeera is getting marked for potential editing: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1287106/posts
Who did this and why?
This looks a lot like civil war, but who are the armed men in this instance?
