(Just my opinion, of course. Your mileage may vary. You have the right to be wrong.)

Sadly, too many FReepers have gone the way of the wannabe-moderators.
A friendly forum is no longer friendly when a good quarter of its members post only to complain about tags, grammar, posting categories, active links, blah blah blah blah blah.

Humiliation? That's for Mr. Hung to decide--my guess is that he's happy to have his engineering education funded.
Does anyone enjoy his music? I do (admittedly in small doses). I prefer it to the soulless assembly-line singers who have actually won on American Idol, and I definitely prefer his voice to the fingernails-on-blackboard voice of Fantasia.
I like to think of William Hung's success as a richly deserved slap in the face to Simon Cowell.

I was away from FR for quite a while until this past summer, and I am a little taken aback by the number of "hall monitors" here. Let's hope it calms down now that we are in post-election mode.

I find it humiliating. I am sorry if Mr. Hung doesn't see that he is being used as a joke by these people. I did not agree with Fantasia winning on American Idol either. But then again I do not like most of the music that is out today. I usually listen to Classic Rock and older Heavy Metal. Neither of that fits into the American Idol category.
I have a problem with most "Reality TV". It is all exploitive in my book. It is basically a way to further bully people around.

I know, I frequented back in 2002/early 2003, and took a break before returning this past September, and it is much more hostile here than it ever was before.
We're all FReepers here, people, we're family. Stop searching the rule books for minuscule things to criticize about other FReepers, and join the community.

The fact this thread is still in news indicates a great improvement over a couple weeks ago.

Survivor rewards people for being manipulative, deceitful jerks. People watch American Idol to hear Cowell's verbal abuse. It doesn't speak well for us that so many get their sick jollies from watching these shows.

You must have been a hall monitor in high school.. I was a member of the "Safety Patrol" in the 5th and 6th grades. On occassion, I would monitor the hall for safety violations, but most of my time was spent on the corner helping other children cross the road.
