Why can't everybody just stand down and take a breath? This could catch fire so fast we might not get to enjoy our dinners and relatives tomorrow.

My money is still on Mrs. Tymoshenko:

She has the money. Whose side was she on last time?

How could that disgusting communist Kuchma have thrown her in prison?

What did she talk about when she went to see Putin?

Whatever anyone says about the missing Russian gas from the '90's has to be wrong.

Not only that, she is a lot better looking than Viktor Stepanovich.

Election manifesto of the Yuliya Tymoshenko bloc

Traditional political ideologies have introduced such fundamental concepts as civil society, democracy, human rights, equality of all property rights, social security. However, people’s dissatisfaction, economic and political crises, terrorism have remained. New forces are needed to give a new impetus to positive development.

The priority development of technology and market ideology have gradually ruined the spirituality of mankind. Our goal is to make the development of spirituality a priority. This is the first constituent of the progress.

The second constituent is the desire for justice, not as a slogan but as a scientific method of improvement of society, which is based on determining, publicizing and settling all conflicts in society. Then, Ukraine will fulfill its historic mission and prove that it is able to become a model of spirituality and a pattern for building a fair society.

This idea is capable of uniting the Ukrainian nation, intentionally split, deceived, and betrayed by the irresponsible authorities.

Spiritual life

The main conflict today is the one between the wish to improve standards of living and disregard of spirituality. To solve this conflict, we will take the following measures:

· Put Ukrainian legislation in line with highest spiritual values;

· Introduce optional spiritual education at secondary schools;

· Unite the efforts of the state and different church confessions to fight drug abuse, AIDS, juvenile homelessness, prostitution, crime and other social diseases;

· Protect the national culture and language as the factors of consolidation of Ukrainian citizens;

· Guarantee the free development of the languages and cultures of all ethnic groups living in Ukraine;

· Make the national intellect and its informational resources a perfect Ukrainian weapon in the competition for a worthy place in the world;

· Mass media cannot be just businesses. We will introduce a new section in the Constitution of Ukraine, which will secure actual freedom of expression, justice and spirituality and cut short criminal manipulations with people’s consciousness......

And That's why its time for Cyberhadin to take action. This is the first revolution that will be funded by cyber warriors. Don't just sit there. Sit, point and click your way into legend. Tell the grand kids how you fought in the Chestnut Revolution of "ought 4". Climb the ramparts, feel the roar of the crowd, battle the despots by sending charging the old credit card for the $70 it takes to buy off one of Putins goons ($200 hrivne - street value)

We just joined our compatriots in Kyiv, because in a very real sense I am not simply sitting in my home at the computer, but helping at the barricades like no Ukrainian can.

My wife and I have been thinking its time to trade in the 95 Chevy for something shinier but then we discovered the official PORA website and its secure donation page.

We will make do with what we have for another year and instead send the money instantly to our compatriots in Ukraine.

If Putin can buy the election, perhaps we can buy Freedom for Ukraine.

Now is the time. Next week we'll have another paycheck - but we might not have a Ukraine.

If you use the credit card option, make sure you fill all the required fields. It took me 3 times. If you have an existing PayPal account, its a little quicker.

It's easy to see where your sympathies lie! ;-) Me, I don't know who's on the side of angels. The Ukrainians have been getting the shaft for two millenia already, so they'll probably get it again.

Our reaction to this is probably being watched closely by China (vis-a-vis Taiwan), but I really don't think we have a dog in this fight.

The EU is well-rested. They can handle it.

Kind of hard to fight tanks with white flags.

NATO - Ukraine relations

Them Eurocrats in Brussels will get twisted up in knots if they try to get in the middle of this one. However, they are indeed well rested and need some exercise. They also have a habit of overestimating their intelligence, which makes them prime candidates to provide gratuitous "assistance" in this matter.

In the face of this latest round of East Block recreational confusion, the only ones capable of understanding it are Russian Orthodox (one side of the river) or Greek Orthodox Catholic (the other side of the river).....asuming that they want to devote the effort.

Meantime, my vote goes to Ukraine's wealthiest lady.

How about orange ones?

Who knows how this will shake out? I pray it will be peaceful, and as just as possible in that corrupt backwater.

The Ukrainian armed forces, police, and secret services support Kuchma's stooge Yanukovich. The Russians are willing to spill blood over a nation that has fifteen centuries of common history with them.

Ukraine is not EU or NATO, it's CIS and there are probably some treaties with Russia that quasi-legitimize this farce.

It sucks, but what to do?

Very interesting. Do I detect an ancient influence of unadulterated Western Judeo-Christian Tradition in this? Sort of a Christian Democratic Union concept but one decidedly more traditionalist than modern parties of that and similar names?

RE: The EU is well-rested. They can handle it.

I both cringe about and welcome it. I welcome it if it takes on more of a Holy Roman Empire - Polish Lithuanian Empire aspect, but do not if it ends up looking more like Kaiser Wilhelm on steroids.

This is a complex mess. It needs major press so the Russians won't try anything.I hope Powell is on the way there. They seem to hold back when the world is watching.

Anytime I see a picture of people from Ukraine, Slovakia, or Poland- its kinda like I'm looking at my neighbors in my beloved Pennsyltucky.

Reminds me of what made America great.

For the life of me, I cannot recall the name of the Ukrainian that had been a leading Ambassador for the Soviet Union and then was a stabilizing force when the tension arose during the split between Moscow and the Ukraine over the nukes during the Reagan and Bush I administrations.

He even ran for, or was elected President of the Ukraine and I believe he was then involved in some scandal and wasn't re-elected. My memory is very sketchy on these details and I need someone to help me remember his name. James Baker, or George Shultz and he were good friends, or became good friends.

I think I heard he developed severe health problems after failing to achieve re-election, but I don't think he has died. If he had died, I think we'd have had an abundance of news coverage of his funeral which I don't recall happening.

What was this most famous Ukrainian's NAME??? Please help.

Here's what I'd like to know.

When the tanks reach the citadel, and the soldiers must choose between disobeying their commanders and slaughtering their own people, what will the Putin apologists on this board have to say?

Will they still claim that Yanukovich is carrying out the will of the people? Will they still claim that communion with Holy Mother Russia trumps basic human decency?

RE: Will they still claim that communion with Holy Mother Russia trumps basic human decency?

As an aside, this sort of rhetoric, which depicts a messianic role for Russia, was a key element in the proto Stalinist Pan Slavic movements originated by the Moscow intellectuals about 120 years ago. Naturally, Stalin revived it in the heat of WW2 to great effect. Just a note ....

From what I have read here on a dozen or so threads about the Ukraine Yushchenko has been supported by Soros for years but is also the favorite of the populace. He was poisoned and run off the road, two attempts made on his life, reportedly by either Putin's people or the Russian mob who appear to be working together. He reportedly won the election and the Russians and their collaborators including the Russian mob got caught playing with the ballots.

Dick Morris was a consultant for Yushchenko and reported massive election violations. Colin Powell came out this afternoon stating that the US suspects massive election fraud putting GW and Soros on the same side.

Yanukovich is supported by Putin and the Eastern portion of the Ukraine which still has allegiance to mother Russia and apparently did not win the election. Putin wants desperately to revive his old Soviet empire and he thinks putting his guy in would be a big stepping stone.
